On 8 Nov 1869, residents near the town of Douglassville, Texas, constituted the Olive Branch Baptist Church with fourteen members. Bro. McLoud served as chairman and Mr. M. Heldt as church clerk. Bro. Whittle preached the first sermon. The charter members were:

K. Hewett

M. Heldt

Wm. H. Heldt

M. A. E. Heldt

B. F. Morris

Bro. McLoud

Shortly afterwards, members joining were Mrs. M. A. Baker, Silas G. and J. A. H. Granberry, Mary and Fannie Hendrix, Jane Green, John Harbuck, J. K. Perdue, T. F. Grogard, Fredonia Hunt, W. D. Stone, P. H. Greene, M. A. Carlow, L. K. Draper, and A. J.
