On 8 Nov 1869, residents near the town of Douglassville, Texas, constituted the Olive Branch Baptist Church with fourteen members. Bro. McLoud served as chairman and Mr. M. Heldt as church clerk. Bro. Whittle preached the first sermon. The charter members were:

Stone, P. H. Greene, M. A. Carlow, L. K. Draper, and A. J. Williams. No actions in the minutes show when the name was actually changed, but after a few years the church became known as the Baptist Church at Douglassville.
