My information is that my Great Grandparents, John Mitchell Burkhalter and his wife, Martha Mitchell Burkhalter moved to Cass County, TX in 1849 after their marriage in Marion Co., TN that same year. He served over 3 years in the Confederate forces east of the Mississippi River. They moved to Greenville, TX in 1870? Their children all were born in Cass Co.: Tennessee b:4/16/1852, Margret (Laura), Fredrick Freeman (Bud), Sarah Jane (My Grandmother, born 10/11/1857), Martha Belle (Mattie), and John Mitchell Burkhalter, Jr b: 5/2/1861.
