Dempsy Hooper arrived in Cass Co. shortly after 1850. He and his wife Rosanna Roberts moved from Perry Co. TN to Rusk Co. TX in 1848 where she died soon after. He was left with six children to raise and remarried a widow, Jane Mooney, moving then into Cass Co. where he remained until his death c.1878. His son, William Jackson Hooper, is memorialized in Goodspeed's History of SW Arkansas. William Jackson's farm was partly in Cass Co.TX and the rest across the state line in Miller Co. AR. He married Frances Permelia Allen, the daughter of Jeremiah C. Allen and Isabella Mathis Allen, in 1856. The Allens had arrived in the area immediately after 1850 from Campbell Co. GA. The Hoopers and the Allens are buried in the Macedonia Cemetery just across the state line in Miller Co. AR.
