Zadock Clyde (Zed) Clements

Zadock Clyde (Zed) Clements, son of Lovic Pierce Clements and Mahala Bonner, was born in Benton, Lowndes County, Alabama September 09, 1840. Zadock served during the Civil War with the 20th Texas Calvary, Company G, as a private and saw duty with "Morgan's Calvary." This unit was under the command of General John Hunt Morgan and was comprised of different units throughout the South. These units conducted raids in the Northern States during the war.

Zadock survived the war and returned home. He was married in Lafayette County, Arkansas July 17, 1865 to Rebecca Isabella (Belle) Chamblee, a daughter of John (Black John) Chamblee and Mariah C. Felton. She was born in Forsyth, Monroe County, Georgia September 05, 1847. This couple lived out their married life in Cass County, Texas. Zadock is believed to have died in Cass County during 1903. He was buried at the Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, Cass County. Rebecca was living in Miller County, Arkansas when the 1920 Census was taken. Several of her children were living in Miller County at that time and she may have been living with one of them, though that is not confirmed. She died April 09, 1939 either in Cass County, Texas or Miller County, Arkansas and was buried next to Zadock at the Queen City Cemetery.

Eleven children were born to the union of Zadock and Rebecca.
