I know the names of my immediate grandparents.
However I am confused about where they originated.
My maternal grandparents were George Washington and Nancy Ann Williams
My paternal grandparents were Tom and Susan Hightower. In the LAWS CHAPEL write up it told of immigrants moving into CASS COUNTY with their slaves between 1845 and 1870. Grandpa George was born February 15, 1874 and grandma Nancy was born Jan. 31, 1876. They were married February 24, 1894. Born to this union were, Wilburn, Virlin, J.D., Alberta, Alice, Lorene, E. H. Pauline, George H., Pauline, Chess, Nancy M. and Herman.
My grandfather George Williams was one of several children by Edmond Williams. I think his mother was called Sue. I misplaced his obit. so I don't remember her given name. Siblings include: Joe, Herbert, who moved to Arkansas, and Willie who went to Hot Springs. I don't recall if there were sisters. George was African descent. Grandma Nancy was the daughter of Tom Hightower whose father was Irish. Her mother was Indian ( I don't remember what tribe.) He had several children in addition to my grandmother Nancy. Namely: Albert, Tommy, Utmos, Nora, Alice, Bertha, Georgia, and Shug (not her given name). Grandpa Tom died in the late thirties or early forties. He was quite old. All the great grands died in the early 1900s.I remember there was an Aunt Mittie and an Aunt Ellen. Aunt Ellen was said to have lived to 116 years of age. I understand Aunt Mittie may have children yet alive. One of my mothers siblings is alive and well in Texarkana, TX at the age of 103. Her youngest sister is 85 and living in Los Angeles, CA. I will welcome news from other members of the Williams, Hightower family. I saw an article about some Heaths. other relatives to my grandmother. We are also related to some Whites.
