I was looking for information about my great-grandfather, Dr. R. P. Ray, and came across your entry on pioneer doctors.

You state that "Dr. Hooper has been mentioned to us as one of the earliest doctors at Hughes Springs." I might suggest that that is probably my great, great grandfather, John Ewing Hooper who was the father of Jennie Melissa, Dr Ray's wife. John Ewing Hooper was born March 29, 1822 in Alabama and was a physician. I know they were in Texas by 1854 because that was the year my great-grandmother was born in Center.
