Hughes Springs Lodge No. 671, A. F. & A. M. organized Dec. 13, 1888 with these officers: Dr. W. M. Hooper; W. A. Callaway; H. D. M. Rice; J. M. Niblett, Jr; C. O. Irvin; C. E. Watson; G. B. Morrow; J. D. Scott; J. M. Goolsby; J. M. Niblett, Sr. Charter members were G. B. Adams, J. M. Bond, T. H. Briggs, Sr., T. V. Dobson, Dr. W. S. Glass, A. A. Goolsby, G. W. Traylor, W. P. Traylor, R. M. Upchurch, and J. C. T. Wilson.

Hughes Springs Chapter No. 349, Order of Eastern Star, was organized Nov. 20, 1906, by Dr. J. L. Dennis, under the name of Rosewood Chapter. Mrs. Josie Starnes was the first worthy matron and E. C. Nelson, first worthy patron. The chapter had 21 charter members. Later the name was changed to Hughes Springs because Texas had another Rosewood Chapter.

Hughes Springs also has a n Order of De Molay and an Order of the Rainbow.
