In the original Cass County Cemeteries book published in 1976, a map was provided with approximate locations of the cemeteries that were enumerated. The county was divided into four sections beginning on the western boundary with Section A and continuing to the eastern boundary with Section D. Each cemetery was then given a number and the letter of the section in which the cemetery was located.
Comparison of the cemetery listing and the map shows that while most cemeteries were surveyed, not all Cass County cemeteries were located and enumerated in this early effort.
In the book, both an Alphabetical Cemetery Key and a Numerical Cemetery Key was provided to assist the reader. In rendering the map and keys for the web, only the Alphabetical Listing has been retained. Many cemeteries were known by more than one name and are often listed that way in the transcriptions. Also, some cemeteries were listed in the book with different spellings. On this page the most commonly used name or spelling is listed first, followed by each alternate name or different spelling. In some cases, both alternate names may be listed alphabetically.
A few cemeteries found in the book such as Old Barton and Lively's Chapel were not given a location code and are not on the list or map.
Because the size of the file needed to recreate the original map in detail would be very large, the map has been divided into four smaller files, one for each section of the county. A basic map of these divisions is shown below. Links to each individual section are listed below the sectional map.

Acknowledgements found in the Cass County Cemeteries Book:
FORWARD
A love of God, man and country is one of the highest regards a
person can have while on this earth for such a short period of time. These three things are the
basic qualities of our heritage. And, one of the ways of keeping this heritage alive is to
record in printed form our known heritage. Therefore, The Cass County Genealogical Society is
very appreciative of to the Historical Society who began to record some of the old cemeteries
over ten (10) years ago and printed a few. However, The Cass County Genealogical Society will
forever be indebted to a man and his wife who spent over ten (10) years copying the thousands
upon thousands of cemetery inscriptions, and they are...
