The following petition was undated, but can be fixed to have been signed before 1891. This estimate is based on the death dates of the signers. It includes several names of African-Americans as well. Most of the signers appeared to have lived in the western portion of Cass County. Using some available Cass County records, additional information about the signers is shown by the editor after each name.

We, the undersigned residents of Cass County, hereby respectfully, but earnestly petition your Hon. bodies not to pass the Resolution calling for a Constitutional Convention nor to favor the adoption of any Resolution for the amendment of the Constitution that will in any way tamper with our present Homestead laws or Other Exemptions under the Constitution and your Petitioners will Ever Pray:

Frank Yeatman - The Yeatman families came to Texas in the 1850’s supposedly with the Floyd Family and settled near Cusetta, Cass Co., TX. Frank may have married a daughter of the Floyd Family. A Frank Floyd Yeatman, b 1870 could be the son of this Frank Yeatman.

R. C. Robison - Robert C. Robison, Jr., b 24 Dec 1854, d. 15 May 1892 of Small Pox, buried Cornett. He married Katherine Elizabeth “Katie” Hall on 12 Dec 1877. She also died of Small Pox. Robert had a brother James who served as Texas Land Commissioners for 38 years.

A. M. Wommack - Andrew Murray “Lan”, born 15 Aug 1870 in ALA son of Elijah John and Sarah Ann Horn Wommack. He married May Bell Floyd 25 May 1898 in Cass County, Texas. He died 8 Aug 1947 and is buried with his wife at Oak Ridge Cemetery at Marietta, Texas.

W. H. first married Jane Hass Cryssup, a widow. Jane died at the birth of their last child in 1873. W. H. Carlton married again to Sarah A. Moreland 2 Sept 1874 Cass County, TX.
Sarah died at the birth of her last child in 1884. He married again to Lou Elizabeth Smith, on 26 Mar 1886. She died shortly after they married on 11 Apr 1886. He then married a fourth time Lou’s sister, Missouri Ann Smith.

W. F. Dunlap - Wesley Franklin Pierce Dunlap married Margaret Susan Hall 5 Sept 1880 Cass County, TX. (They were cousins.) They had seven children. W.F. was the son of Robert Dunlap and Minerva Hall. W. F. was born 31 Mar 1860 in Cass County, TX. He became a doctor. He remarried on 24 Feb 1897 to Sallie Long. He died 6 Feb 1939 in Cason, Morris County, TX.
