Weldon Chaney Pilgrim DAINGERFIELD — Services for Weldon Chaney Pilgrim, 57, of Hughes Springs will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. David Kizer and Brother Doye Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Camp County under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Pilgrim died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Pilgrim was born April 24, 1947, in Gilmer. He was a member of the County Line Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge in Daingerfield, an honorary Texas Ranger and the Actors Place. Mr. Pilgrim attended Daingerfield High School. He graduated from the Police Academy and served as a police officer for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Lou Della Henderson Pilgrim; one brother, Leonard Darwin Pilgrim; and one niece, Mary Kathlene Gandy. Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, LaWanna and Fred Gaines of Tyler and Marcalene Pilgrim and Donald Ziegler of Rock Branch; two nephews, Keith Fletcher of Marshall and Curtis Fletcher and his wife, Brenda, of Henderson; two nieces, Lisa Keller of Gurney, Neb., and Karen Parker and her husband, Jeff, of Hooks; two adopted daughters, Jena Cornelius and her husband, Jimmy, of Daingerfield and Jeri Lynn Cox of St. Cloud, Fla.; one adopted son, James “Bubba” Cox and his wife, Shelia, of Daingerfield; one sister-in-law, Peggy Pilgrim of Hooks; two aunts, Mary Fowler of Pittsburg and Pauline Rushing of Gilmer; one uncle, the Rev. J.C. Henderson and his wife, Verdine, of Gilmer; six great-nephews; two great-nieces; four great-great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and a host of adopted children by love. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today, July 10, at the funeral home.
