Pioneer of Prospect Passed Away July 27, 1937
Mrs. Celia E.
Blalock, 81, pioneer of clay County, died Thursday at ll:20 pm
July 27, 1937 at her home in Prospect, Texas.
She was born
at Atlanta, Ga., but came to Texas as a child, moving to Clay
County when married to John Blalock in 1878. Mr. Blalock
passed away five years ago, having lived at Prospect continuously
for sixty years.
Mrs. Blalock
was a Christian lady and was a charter member of the Prospect
Baptist Church.
Funeral services
were held from the Blalock homestead of 3:30 pm, July 28, 1937,
with the Rev. Herman Marshall and Durmore of Sunset, Texas, officiating.
Interment was
in the Prospect Cemetery.
the deceased
is survived by five children: Mrs. Louisa Collie, of Burkburnett;
Mrs. Edgar P. Haney, of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Walter Davis of Shamrock,Texas;
Ira Blalock of Prospect, Texas; a brother, Bryant Bullard, Gainesville;
twenty-two grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
All were present
with the exception of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
