J.A. Blalock Pioneer
Dies at Prospect
1934
J.A. Blalock age 83 years died
Oct. 17, 1934 at 10:30 am. Born in Vicksburg, Miss., Oct.
8, 1851, married Celia Bullard in 1879, and moved to Clay county
a short time after and have lived here ever since, making 56
years. He is survived by his wife Celia Blalock and four
daughters: Mrs. Louisa Collie, Prospect; Mrs. Edgar P.
Haney, Dallas; Mrs. Walter Davis, Shamrock; Mrs. C. J. Lyons,
Quannah; and one son, Ira Blalock, Prospect. There
are 22 grand children, 12 great grand children. Two sons
had passed on: Jim Blalock and Floyd Blalock.
Funeral services were held at
3 o'clock at Prospect. Rev. H.E. Marshall of Buffalo Springs
holding the service. Mr. Blalock is gone, but not forgotten,
he was a member of the Baptist church and his good attendance
and will be missed so much. Mr. Blalock was only sick a
few days and for the last two years he has worked the cemetery,
has kept it clean, he had no charge. His friends should
never forget him.

Collie, Prospect; Norman Blalock, Prospect; Theron and Irad Blalock,
Shannon.
