J.B. Blaylock Falls
to Death from Wagon
Accident Occurred near
Gowan Place in Henrietta
(ca 1932)
Sat. afternoon J.B. Blalolck, age 44 years,
7 months and 19 days, fell from a wagon loaded with baled hay,
resulting in his neck being broken in two places. In addition
to the fall, the wagon ran over him. Death was instantaneous.
Mr. Blalock was driving from
his home, the Schlosberg place, six miles southeast of Henrietta.
His load was too high to make the railway underpass, so he drove
across the track of the Denver east of the Gowan, brick house,
and the accident occurred on the north side of the railroad track.

Mrs. Albert Campbell saw him
fall, but the first man to the body was the driver of the Coco
Cola truck, and he notified authorities and F.O. Moore's ambulance
brought the dead man in.
Burial was at Prospect Sunday
afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, funeral ceremonies being conducted
at the Baptist church there by Rev. T. H. Mayfield. He
had lived near Bellevue and also at New London, but recently
moved to the Schlosberg place in Fairview neighborhood.
Mr. Blalock is survived by his
widow and five children, two sons, Theron and Irad, and three
daughter, Misses Lois and Floy and Mrs. Allie Mae Crutsinger,
also a brother, four sisters and his father and mother.
James Brinkley Blalock was born
at Prospect iin this county August 15, 1888. His tragic
death was a great shock to his family and friends. Luther
Ewell and family of Vashti furnished the music at the funeral.
