Alice Redin Harris
Alice Redin Harris, 94, of Electra passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in a Wichita Falls care center of natural causes. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Electra, with the Rev. Tom Medley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
   Mrs. Harris was born January 28, 1907, to Walter Alexander and May Ann (Roland) Redin in Vashti, Texas; she was one of seven children. On June 4, 1922, Alice married David Franklin Harris in Electra, Texas; they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary prior to his death on March 1, 1996. Alice was co-owner of Harris Plumbing in Electra from 1934 to 1968 where she helped run the business along side Frank, learning the plumbing trade, ordering material and assisting with repairs when needed. Alice maintained a home on N. Wichita St. in Electra where she had lived since September 1935. Alice will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a true "Texas Woman" in every sense of the world-strong, self-reliant and kind to everyone, especially her neighbors and friends.
   Survivors include three grandsons, David Harris of Manhatten Beach, California, and Dan Harris and Robert Braden, both of San Diego, California; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Harris in 1996, her daughter, Edna Braden in 1968 and her son, Cecil Harris in 1999.
   Pallbearers will be Robert Harris, Ben Harris, Beau Redin Will Redin, Si Clark and Trace Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Boyle, Nathan Smith and Curtis Weddle.
   The family will be at the funeral home in Electra, Friday, May 4, from 7 to 8 p.m.
   Memorials may be made to the Alice Harris Memorial Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, Attn: Tom Medley, 1107 S. Bailey, Electra, Texas 76360.
