The Whon Cemetery is located northwest of the Whon Community in the southeast corner of Coleman County about four miles east of Rockwood. To reach the cemetery, drive west about one quarter mile, then turn north (right) on the dirt road and the cemetery will be on the right after about one quarter mile.

The cemetery began when Lillian Ruth Mc Cain drowned in a stock tank in 1905. Her father, Sam Mc Cain gave a portion of his land to be used as a cemetery.

The cemetery is fenced and well-kept. We divided it into Section A (located north of the entrance road) and Section B (located south of the entrance road). Some of the cemetery land to the east, north, and south is undeveloped. There are a number of marked and unmarked, unkept graves in the south part of Section B. Rows were read in a snake-like fashion, ending at one row and beginning at the same end of the next row. Family lots may have been separated by this method of reading.
