Roy E. Wilder, 77

Roy E. Wilder, age 77, of Coleman, passed away in Abilene Regional Hospital at 6 am. Friday, February 16, 2001.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating, assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw.  Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Roy was born June 26, 1923 in Coleman, Texas, a son of the late Charlie and Maggie Green Wilder.  He had lived in Coleman all of his life.  On November 8, 1945, he and Geraldine Seals were married in Coleman.  He was a World War II veteran, serving 21 years in the U. S. Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant.  He worked with the Coleman Little League for over 10 years; was a member of the Coleman Country Club for over 30 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Coleman.  He managed the Goodyear Store in Coleman for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Wilder of Coleman; a brother, Billie Wilder of Coleman; his mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Seals of Coleman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Mitchell of Abilene; niece, Rosemary Mitchell Henderson and husband James E. Henderson of Fort Worth.

Pallbearers were Jerry May, David May, Donnie Crye, Ron Carroll, Jimmy Hemphill, Rex Beck, Jerry Campbell, and Tom Walker.  All of the golfing friends served as trenorary pallbearers.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Churcn, Box 983, Coleman, Texas 76834.
