Coleman High School Class of 1963 Holds 45th Anniversary Reunion
The
Class of 1963 met for their 45th Reunion on Saturday, October 4,
2008 at the Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall in Coleman, Texas. Approximately 50 classmates and spouses
attended. Registration
began at 10:00 a.m. with refreshments by Carole Stiles Horne, Mary Ann Needham
Hartman, Linda Broyles Lawrence, Liz Ray Rush, and Mrs. Bob (Sue) Mann. Carole Horne and Elizabeth Boyd decorated
the fellowship hall and tables with
beautiful fall foliage and pumpkins.
Carolyn Miller Murphy made the
registration booklet, and Liz Ray Rush had a wonderful memorial to the deceased
members of the class. A special thanks
to Lavarl Brooks for time and effort spent in finding lost classmates. Old
annuals and pictures were displayed and enjoyed by all, and much reminiscening
was done about the years gone by, and
of course, a lot of laughing. And yes,
you guessed it, we laughed at the ones not present also.
At
3:00 p.m. we gathered for a tour of the old Coleman High School, Graves Gym,
and group picture. The buildings have
been purchased by one of the churches in Brownwood with hopes of renovating
them for community purposes. The gym is
already being used by the youth of Coleman.
Hopefully, they will bring our old school back to life.
At
5:00 p.m. a delicious meal prepared by Classmate, Severn Mayo and family was
enjoyed by all. As a class, we all
helped with the preparations and serving and thoroughly enjoyed working
together. Even cleaning up was fun.
Bob
Mann conducted a short business meeting, and plans were made for the 50th
reunion which will be in conjunction with the Multi-Class Reunion. Fundraiser projects were discussed, and
details of the multi class reunion were explained by Carole Horne with help
from Ralph and Judia Terry. Individual
classes meet, but can also join the multi-class reunion in order to visit with
classmates of different years. The 50th
reunion promises to be our largest and best so we hope everyone will make plans
to attend. Dates of the reunion will be
posted as soon as possible on the CHS Alumni Web Page which is maintained by
Ralph Terry. Ralph does an excellent
job of reporting reunion dates and updates information about alumni, and you
need to be faithful about sending him your updated information. Ralph’s website is: www.colemanbluecats.com. You can take advantage of our local web-sites
in order to keep up with the happenings in and around Coleman. These sites are: www.colemannews.com
and www.colemanpaper.com.

gathered to visit before everyone went separate ways to their homes. Some traveled as far away as Montana,
Arkansas, New Mexico, and distant points in Texas. The following were in attendance: Carolyn Miller Murphy
(Arlington); Elizabeth (Betty) Childress Phillips and husband, Mark (The
Colony); Mary Ann Needham Hartman and husband, Eddie (Lake Brownwood);
