Coleman Father and Son Killed in Car Crash
Other Driver Faces Intoxication Manslaughter Charges

A head-on collision at 2:30am Sunday claimed the life of a Coleman man and his son. Charley Wayne Boatright Sr., 42, and Charley Wayne Boatright Jr., 16, were killed in a two pickup crash four-tenths of a mile north of Goldsboro on U.S. Highway 84 in northern Coleman County . Funeral services for the Boatrights will be graveside at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Chris Delgado, Coleman County DPS Trooper, the Boatright's were going south in a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.  For an unknown reason, still being investigated, a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Trey Barton Scott, 26, of Clyde, crossed from the northbound lane into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the Boatright pickup, Delgado said.  Scott refused medical treatment at the scene but was later taken by Trooper Delgado to Coleman County Medical Center.  According to Delgado, Scott was arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a 2nd degree felony.  Scott was booked into Coleman County Jail but later released after making bond.

The Boatright's were both pronounced dead at the scene by Nance Campbell, Coleman County Justice of the Peace.  Trooper Pat Salas is assisting in the investigation.  The DPS was assisted at the scene by the Coleman County Sheriff's Department.
