Something About Hans  .....

"Having some sparetime and cruising the net.  The idea came to me and see what is happing in Coleman, Texas.  I never graduated from Coleman High School, as I was an exchange student in your sophmore year.  Yes I am the kid from Denmark, who entered Coleman High School slim and handsome, and exited more than 35 pounds heavier.  You should have seen the faces of my family when I returned to Denmark.  Everybody came to my homecoming party ... Uncles, Cousins, schoolfriends, etc.  They went numb for the first hour, quite embarrasing - aprox 10 months before I was back to normal.  Now I am 32 years old, live in Copenhagen (Capital of Denmark) and my weight is still normal and has been so for the past 15 years.  So what happend to me ... well, I returned Danish school and graduated in the summer of 1989.  We go to school a little longer than you.  After this, I served one military service in the Danish Army - it was compulsory.  After the army I worked two years in various odd jobs.  In 1992 entered Copenhagen Business School and graduated in 1996 with a business degree in Export Sales and Marketing.  Today I work as a Product Manager for a medical device company a litle north of Copenhagen with responsibility for the global sales in my product group.  I am not married and does not seem likely that it is going to happen soon - I guess i'm part of this generation who can't figure out the "love thing" - meaning, looking for miss right, but probably overlook her when she is around or maybe we are just too demanding.  My exchange student year has been a great benefit to me, as I have learned a lot.  Particularly when it comes to adapting to a new environment and handling people with a different cultural background than my own.  The last thing I learned the hard way, you may recall, I did make some missteps.  But it has made me open minded and courageous to put myself in new situations that I am unfamiliar with."  (July 2002.)

"I hope people will understand the humours irony of my summary.  Just remembered that when it comes to being humorous using irony, is not the strongest feature in Texans - please I don't mean any offence.  Danish humour is just built on a lot of irony, but I can assure you Italians and people from France don't like it either.  Think it mainly a Scandinavien and British thing.  Any how I lived with Dr. Fenella Schaeffer and Vernon Schaeffer (used cars salesman - Schaeffer Auto), I think the address was West College Street.  I lost contact with her in 1991/92 just before I went to business college.  Vernon died 4 months after my return to Denmark.  My guess is she has also passed a way by now."  (August 2002.)
