 Comments On Games and Season

Coleman won district and bi-district, and advanced to the regional tournament, losing to Madisonville in the first round.  In the Bi-District game against Hillsboro, the score at the end of the regulation game was 44 - 44.  After 4 overtimes, Coleman won 46 - 44.

Coleman was Consolation winner in the Brownwood Tournament and won 2nd place in the Howard Payne College Tournament.

George Byerly set a new individual high point game record for Coleman High School in the Mason game by scoring 42 points.  Quoting the Coleman newspaper, "Byerly's 42 points broke the school redord said to have been set by Robert Beall of 38 points in 1958."  However, Beall played in 1950 1951 and 1951 - 1952.  He scored 764 points for the year, averaging 24.6 points per game, playing in all 31 games.  He made 21 of 26 free throws in the Stamford (or ACHS) game (NEED TO CHECK.)
