BIG SECOND HALF HELPS CATS HAMMER
WINTERS
The now 2-0 Bluecats put a solid 49-7 thump to the Winters Blizzards Friday night, mostly thanks to a tremendous second-half awakening. Coleman¹s Bronson Buzzard put up an early-game rushing touchdown to start the party, but the Blizzards answered with a 27-yard TD pass, tying the game after the first quarter. Bluecat fans sat nervously through a long second quarter with a 7-7 tie until QB Colton Buzzard scored on a 13-yard run with only seconds left until the buzzer. Post-halftime play was more to the liking of Coleman coaches and fans as the Blue Crew knocked down 21 unanswered points in the third quarter and 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, including a Bronson Buzzard 8-yard TD run, a Brandon Worsham fumble recovery and 25-yard return for a TD, a 26-yard touchdown pass from QB Colton Buzzard to Dalton De Leon, a 3-yard TD run by Anthony Morales, and a 7-yard TD run by Anthony Morales. Kicker Oscar Villeda added five PATs during the night. Coleman appeared to be facing tougher competition from Winters than what Brady had to offer the previous week. The Blizzards showed up with a more threatening passing game, as they racked up 144 yards on 14 completions in 30 attempts. However, interceptions by Bluecats Stanley Cole, Glenn Edington, and Bronson Buzzard helped keep Winters from capitalizing on their passing game. Coleman put up another tremendous offensive effort, racking up 381 rushing yards and 48 passing yards for a total of 429 yards throughout the contest. The Cat offense showed its diversity again by spreading the rushing yards between seven different players. Bronson Buzzard led the rushing effort with 15 carries for 123 yards, followed by Brandon Worsham with seven carries for 54 yards, Adam Vasquez with five carries for 49 yards, Glenn Edington with five carries for 46 yards, Colton Buzzard with five carries for 44 yards, Anthony Morales with four carries for 38 yards, and Kavin Bowers with eight carries for 27 yards. Dalton De Leon caught two passes for 42 yards and Chase Avants pulled in one for six. Winters put up 196 total yards of offense, three quarters of which was through the air. They also accumulated 14 first downs, but only found the end zone once, thanks to the tough Cat defense.
Bluecats Win Big Against Winters
The Coleman Bluecats are 2-0 after a 49 to 7 victory Friday night before a full house at Hufford Field. The Bluecats have scored a total of 97 points in their first two games while allowing only 7 points scored against them. Even though the Bluecats seemed to score at-will in the second half, the game was ugly at times in the first half, especially during the second quarter as turnovers and penalties took their toll. The half-time speech from the Bluecat coaching staff must have been a good one because the team performed very well in the second half. Here is the scoring summary: * The Bluecats took the opening kickoff and quickly scored on a 3 yard
run by Bronson Buzzard with 10:37 remaining in the first quarter. Oscar
Villeda kicked the point after to put Coleman ahead 7-0.
* In the 3rd quarter the Bluecats scored on an 8 yard run by Bronson
Buzzard, point-after was good by Villeda, making the score 21-7.
