colemannews.com - 8/29/2008

Thursday night in Breckenridge, the Coleman Bluecats scored 28 points to Olney's 0 and won their first game of the season. The Bluecats took the opening kickoff and during their first possession moved down the field to Olney's 17 yard line with 8:18 left in the first quarter. Able to move only 6 yards after 4 attempts, the Bluecats handed the Cubs possession of the ball on their own 11 yard line.

Olney's first possession resulted in a punt after one series of downs and the Bluecats took the ball on their own 3 yard line. Coleman started this series with 2:09 left in 1st Quarter. After a total gain of 8 yards by Kahlam Salazar and Glen Edington, and on a 3rd an 2, Colton Buzzard carried the ball 89 yards to the end zone; however, a personal foul near the 25 yard line brought the Cats back to the 34 yard line. After Salazar gained 11 yards, it was another 1st down. After a 1 yard loss on the next play, the 1st quarter ended with the score 0-0.   The 2nd quarter started with a 2nd and 11.  Edington got 1 yard, making it 3rd and 10.
Colton Buzzard then passed to Dalton DeLeon for a touchdown with 11:16 left in 2nd quarter. Jonathan Sanchez kicked the PAT bringing the score to Bluecats 7 - Olney 0.

Olney received the kick-off with a fair catch on their own 24 yard line. After 2 - 1st down series, the Cubs punted and the Cats allowed the punt to roll to Olney's 43 yard line to start their next possession. After being unable to gain a 1st down, Coleman was forced to punt and Olney started their series on their own 25 yard line. After a tackle by Agbor, Cole, and Walker, Olney was unable to move more than 1 yard and punted to Coleman with 7:12 left in the 2nd quarter.

The Cats took over on their own 40 yard line. A pass from Buzzard to DeLeon was complete to Olney's 44, but a penalty on the play brought it back for a 1st and 15 on the 35 yard line. On the 3rd down, a defensive interference call against Olney with a 15 yard penalty gave Coleman a 1st and 10 from Olney's 45 yard line. On the next 4th down, the long snap to Buzzard got away and he covered it giving the Cats a 4th and 17 with 3:32 left in the first half. The punt was caught for a fair catch on the 8 yard line. After Sanchez and Edington got a tackle keeping Olney to a short 2 yard gain, Agbor and C. Barrios sacked the quarterback giving them 4th and 18 on their own 1 yard line.
Jamal Agbor then blocked the punt in the end zone and it was covered by the Cats for a touchdown. The PAT fake for a run was not converted so the score was 13-0 with 1:39 left in the first half. Olney received the kickoff and got to their own 40 yard line, but was not able to score as the half ended 13-0.

Buzzard ran a keeper for a 1st and 10 on the 48 yard line. A pass from Buzzard to DeLeon was complete, but a fumble by DeLeon was recovered by Olney giving them possession again with 6:52 left in the game. Olney did get one 1st down and moved to the 28 yard line, but on 4th and 4 they received a holding penalty giving them 4th and 14. They were unable to convert for a 1st down, so Coleman took possession with 3:49 left in the game.
