Discharged at Hempstead, Texas, June 1865 at the close of the war.

Age:  73   Born:  Hillsboro, Jones County, Georgia.

Resident of Texas since 1860 - in Coleman, Coleman County since 1889.

"John Adams Alexander served in command organized in Texas for  3 years 6 months.  He served in Co. I 11th Texas Infantry, Captain T. J. Foster's Company, Walker Division, Randall's Brigade."  (Sworn 25 July 1916)

Affadavit of witness: Appeared T. W. White and T. H. Strong: "J. A. Alexander has been a bona fide resident of the state since 1900."  (Sworn 25 July 1916)

Affadavit of witness: Appeared H. M. Teel and S. A. Blasingame in Van Zandt County, Texas: "John Adam Alexander was a member of Co I 11th Texas Inf.  Served 3 years 6 months.  We were member of the same company."  (Sworn 4 August 1916)

Deposition of Dr. J. W. Young and W. D. Haney in Noland County, Texas:  "John Adams Alexander deceased 18 March 1920.  Surviving wife, Emma V. Alexander resides at Roscoe, Noland County, Texas."    (10 April 1920)

Adjutant General's Office:  "John A. Alexander - Private in Co I 11th Reg't Texas Infantry.  Enlisted June 27, 1862 - age 19 - Jan - Feb 64 roll: does not show him absent."

Mortuary Warrant:  Mrs. J. A. Alexander - Husband deceased 18 March 1920 in Roscoe, Nolan County, home of Mrs. Millard E. Smith, daughter.
