Andrew E. Dalton, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Dalton, Sr., entered the Army Feb. 11, 1943; sent overseas July 1943; fought in Aleutians, Apennines, Rome-Arno, Po Valley; awarded Bronze Star; killed in action in Italy April 18, 1945; awarded Purple Heart posthumously.
 
DAVIS, ALTON B.
Alton B. Davis, son of Mrs. G. W. Davis, entered the Army Nov. 25, 1940; sent to ETO; fought in Rome-Arno, Naples-Foggia, France, Rhineland,  Central Europe; 27 months overseas; received Legion of Merit: attached to 142nd Anti-Tank Battalion; staff sergeant; discharged.
 
DAVIS, CHARLIE JAMAS HERMAN
Charlie Jamas Herman Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Davis, was inducted into the Army Dec. 26, 1944; trained at Fort Sam Houston, Camp Hood, Fort Ord, Calif.; sent to Pacific Sept. 4, 1945;holds the rank of corporal; now stationed in Manila.
 
DAVIS, DAVID EARL
David Earl Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Davis; entered Army May 26, 1942; left for ETO Feb. 12, 1944; fought in Normandy, Northwestern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe; served 21 months overseas with 105th Medical Battalion; discharged Oct. 20, 1945 as sergeant.
 
DAVIS, MACK, JR.
Mack Davis, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Davis, Sr., entered the Navy Sept 19, 1945; trained at San Diego, Calif.; sailed for Pacific December, 1945; overseas nine months; served on Saipan, Marianas; held rank of seaman, first class; discharged July 24, 1945.
 
DAVIS, ROBERT FRANKLIN, JR.
Robert Franklin Davis, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Franklin Davis, Sr., entered the Army Dec. 13, 1939; sent to Pacific Jan. 2, 1942; overseas 30 months; was stationed at Pearl Harbor when Japs attacked; holds the rank of staff sergeant.
 
DAY, EDWARD E.
Edward E. Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Day, entered the Navy January, 1945; received training at Norfolk, Va.; sailed to the Pacific Theater of Operations August, 1945; 10 months overseas; holds rank of seaman, second class; now stationed at San Francisco, Calif.
 
DAY, WILLIAM J.
William J. Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Day, entered the Army Dec. 4, 1942; trained at Camp Howze; sent to ETO Nov. 18, 1943; fought at Cassino; awarded Purple Heart; attached to 34th Division; was private, first class; discharged Nov. 3, 1944.
 
DEAL, BILLY JACK
Billy Jack Deal, son of W. F. Deal, entered the Navy Feb. 4, 1944; received training at San Diego, Calif., San Bruno, Calif.; sailed to Pacific Jan. 10, 1945; spent 16 months overseas; held the rank of electrician’s mate, second class when discharged May 14, 1946.
 
DEAL, JOE C.
Joe C. Deal, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Deal, entered the Naval Air Corps, Aug. 10, 1944; sent to Pacific Jan. 5, 1945 for 17 months’ service; participated in bombardment of Okinawa, Japan: served aboard USS Alabama, USS John W. Weeks; discharged June 19, 1946.
 
DEAN, RODNEY
Rodney Dean, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Dean, entered the Army Air Corps Feb. 13, 1942; sent to ETO May 2, 1943 for 30 months’ service; served in North Africa and Italy; was attached to 62nd Service Group; held rank of corporal; discharged Nov. 8, 1945.
 
DeARMON, OSCAR J.
Oscar J. DeArmon, son of Tom DeArmon, entered the Navy Seabees Dec. 23, 1942; received training at Norfolk, Va.; sent to Pacific April 30, 1943 for 31 months’ service; was attached to 76th Construction Battalion; held rank of seaman, third class; discharged.
 
DeARMON, THOMAS LOYD
Thomas Loyd DeArmon, son of T. J. DeArmon; entered the Navy Seabees March 15, 1945; received training at San Diego. Calif.; sailed overseas May 25, 1945; spent 11 months on Okinawa with 147th Naval Construction Battalion: discharged as shipfitter, third class.
 
DePRANG, ROBERT B.
Robert E. DePrang, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. DePrang, entered the Army Air Corps Feb. 14, 1942; trained at Camp Wallace, Kelly Field; sent to ETO Aug. 20, 1943 for 23 months’ service; was attached to 913th Signal Corps Depot; discharged Nov. 4, 1945.
 
DeRUSHA, DAN M.
Dan M. DeRusha, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. DeRusha; entered the Navy July 1, 1945; trained at San Diego and Shoemaker, Calif.; served as seaman, first class with the Personnel Separation Center at Camp Wallace; honorably discharged Aug. 24. 1946.
 
DILLINGHAM, JOHN RICHARD
John Richard Dillingham, son of Mrs. J. W. Dillingham, entered the Army Feb. 12, 1942; received extensive training at various camps in Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas and California; was attached to 14th Armored Division; was staff sergeant; discharged Dec. 10, 1945.
 
DIXON, JAMES H.
James H. Dixon, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Dixon, entered the Army Air Corps Aug. 10, 1942; sent to ETO Aug. 10, 1943: overseas 27 months; served with the Eighth Air Force; discharged as sergeant November, 1945; re-enlisted June, 1946; now stationed in Austria.
 
DIXON, R. L.
R. L. Dixon, Jr., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Dixon, Sr., entered the Army Nov. 21, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Salerno, Italy where he was killed in action Sept. 11, 1943; was attached to 36th Division; awarded Purple Heart Posthumously.
 
DOBBINS, ALBERT DAN
Albert Dan Dobbins, son of Mrs. W. R. Dobbins, entered the Navy Dec. 6, 1943; sent to Pacific In May, 1944; 10 months overseas; fought in Saipan, Palau, Philippines: served as seaman, first class, with the Third Fleet: honorably discharged on Jan. 6, 1946.
 
DOBBINS, LESLIE D.
Leslie D. Dobbins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Drew J. Dobbins, entered Army Air Force Aug. 10, 1942; left for ETO Oct. 4, 1943; flew 35 missions over Germany; awarded Air Medal with three clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross; attached to the Eighth Air Force: discharged as staff sergeant.

J. D. Doss, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Doss, entered the Navy Seabees Oct. 5, 1942; sent to ETO Dec. 31, 1944; fought in Normandy: received Presidential Unit Citation; attached to 111th Construction Battalion; was ranked as watertender, first class; discharged.
 
DOWNEY, GLYN O.
Glyn O. Downey, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Downey, entered the Army Air Corps Nov. 6, 1934; trained at Randolph Field, Lowry Field, Colo., Curtis Wright Field, Calif., Hartford, Conn.; sent over seas Aug. 18, 1946; is warrant officer; now stationed at Casablanca,.
DOWNEY, MALCOLM W.
Malcolm W. Downey, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Downey, was inducted into the Army March 6, 1942; received training at Fort Bliss and Camp Barkeley, Texas; was attached to the 90th Division; held the rank of private, first class, when discharged Nov. 19, 1943.
 
DOWNEY, SHERWOOD M.
Sherwood M. Downey, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Downey, entered the Army Air Corps Dec. 2, 1942; sent to ETO July 25, 1943; spent 30 months overseas; was attached to the Eighth Air Force; held rank of technical sergeant when discharged Feb. 1, 1946.
 
DOWNS, DARRELL S.
Darrell S. Downs, son of Mrs. O. W. Downs, entered Army Air Corps in November, 1942; sent to ETO in February, 1944 for 22 months’ service; fought in Normandy; served in Holland, Germany, France; awarded Purple Heart; was paratrooper with 82nd Division; discharged.
 
DOZIER, JAMES W.
James W. Dozier, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dozier, entered Army in 1943; left for ETO in October 1943; participated in four major battles; served 18 months overseas with 78th Field Artillery; discharged in October 1945; ranked as corporal.
 
DRAKE, CECIL D.
Cecil D. Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Drake, entered the Army Nov. 7, 1939; sent to ETO Oct. 8, 1943 for 26 months’ service; fought in Normandy, France; was attached to 15th Field Artillery Battalion; was private, first class; discharged Nov. 8, 1945.
 
DRAPER, WALTER GEORGE
Walter George Draper, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Draper, entered the Army Aug. 1, 1940; sent to ETO April 1, 1943 for seven months’ service; fought in Italy; awarded Purple Heart, Expert Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Good Conduct Medal; holds rank of private, first class.
 
DUNN, ELWOOD
Elwood Dunn, son of Mrs. S. D. Riddle, entered the Army June 5, 1942; sailed to Europe Feb. 8, 1943; fought in Rome-Arno, Naples-Foggia, Po Valley, Southern France with 845th Aviation Engineers; spent 28 months overseas discharged as corporal Sept. 19, 1945.
 
DUNN, MONROE D.
Monroe D. Dunn, son of Mrs. Helen Riddles, entered the Army March 6, 1942; sent to ETO July 2, 1944 for 16 months’ service; fought in Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe; attached to 101st Parachute Maintenance Company; discharged in November, 1945.
 
DURHAM, WILLIAM A.
William A. Durham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus V. Durham, entered Naval Air Corps Feb. 23, 1943; sent to Pacific April 26, 1944 for 19 months’ service; fought on Saipan, Palau, Luzon, Okinawa; served with Anti-Sub Patrol, Seventh Fleet; was aviation ordnanceman, second class; discharged.
 
DYER, JAMES E.
James E. Dyer, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Williams, entered the Army April 1943; received training at Camp Barkeley, Texas; sent to ETO Dec. 28, 1943 for 27 months’ service; awarded Good Conduct Medal; holds the rank of sergeant.
 
DYER, LEROY
Leroy Dyer, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Williams, entered the United States Army in January 1945; received training at Camp Hood, Texas; sent to Pacific Theater of Operations in September 1945; holds the rank of corporal.
