Frank E. Ragsdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rags-dale, entered Army April 11, 1944; left for ETO on Oct. 30, 1944; fought in Rhineland and Central Europe; served 19 months overseas with 1262nd Combat Engineers; discharged June 5, 1946; ranked as technician, fourth grade.
RAGSDALE, GERALD WILLIS
Gerald Willis Ragsdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ragsdale, entered Army Dec. 4, 1942; left for ETO Sept. 20, 1944; fought at Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe; served 15 months overseas with 309th Engineers; awarded Bronze Star Medal; discharged Nov. 8, 1945, as sergeant.
RAGSDALE, ROSS BAILEY
Ross Bailey Ragsdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ragsdale, entered Army Air Force March 6, 1942; served approximately four years attached to 3505th AAF Base Unit; instructed pilots, navigators and bombardiers in basic navigation; discharged Feb. 23, 1946; ranked as sergeant.
RANDOLPH, ROBERT B.
Robert B. Randolph, son of R. R. Randolph of 1404 South Pecos, was inducted into Navy in 1942; received his initial and advanced training at Norfolk, Virginia and Great Lakes Training Department, Illinois.
RANSBERGER, BILLY VERNON
Billy Vernon Ransberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ransberger, entered the Navy June 28, 1942; sailed overseas in December, 1942 for 34 months’ service; served in both ETO, Pacific; participated in numerous battles; served as watertender, second class, aboard USS Phoenix; discharged.
RATHWELL, CLAUD
Claud Rathwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Rathwell, entered Army Oct. 20, 1942; left for ETO on May 1, 1944; fought in Normandy; served 18 months overseas with General Patton’s Third Army; awarded five battle stars and Presidential Citation; discharged in October, 1945, as corporal.
RATHWELL, J. B.
J. B. Rathwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Bath-well, entered the Navy July 1, 1943; trained at Corpus Christi, Texas; served with 206th Engineers; discharged from service March 15, 1946; ranked as seaman, first class.
RATHWELL, JOHN E.
John E. Rathwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Rathwell, entered Army Feb. 3, 1943; left for ETO May 18, 1944; fought in Normandy; served 24 months overseas with General Patton’s Third Army; awarded four battle stars and one Bronze Star; discharged Sept. 8, 1945, as corporal.
RAY, CECIL E.
Cecil E. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Ray, entered the Army Air Corps Oct. 27, 1943; trained at Lubbock, Texas and Chanute Field, Ill.; was attached to the Eighth Service Command; held the rank of corporal when discharged from service Feb. 19, 1946.
RAY, GEORGE W.
George W. Ray, son of Mrs. Telitha Ray, entered Marines Oct. 26, 1942; left for Pacific June 3, 1943; fought on Gilbert Islands and Saipan; awarded Purple Heart, and Presidential Unit Citation; killed during Saipan invasion while serving with Second Marine Division.
RAY, JAMES A.
James A. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Ray, entered the United States Army Jan. 19, 1942; received training at Camp Grant, Illinois; served with the Medical Corps; was sergeant when honorably discharged from service Jan. 11, 1946.
RAY, LESTER B.
Lester B. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Ray, entered the Army Air Forces Oct. 1, 1943; trained at Greenville, Texas; spent seven months overseas; served with the Eighth Air Force; held the rank of private, first class, when honorably discharged from service Feb. 12, 1946.
RAY, LOWELL O.
Lowell O. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Ray, entered the Army Oct. 15, 1945; trained at Fort Sam Houston; holds the rank of private, first class; still in service and now stationed at Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
 
RAY, RONALD L.
Ronald L. Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Ray, entered the Army Sept. 7, 1944; sailed to Pacific Feb. 5, 1945; fought on Okinawa; served with 27th Division; holds rank of sergeant; now stationed in Tokyo, Japan with the occupational forces.
 
RAYMER. ALTO V.
Alto V. Raymer, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Raymer, entered Army Jan. 19, 1941; left for ETO April 1, 1943; fought in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, France and Rhineland; served 29 months overseas; awarded Distinguished Unit Badge, five Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead.
 
RAYMER, LUTHER A.
Luther A. Raymer, son of B. A. Raymer, entered the Army Air Corps Sept. 18, 1942; received extensive training in the United States; sent to the ETO in January. 1944 for 16 months’ service; shot down over Berlin; imprisoned by Germans 13 months; awarded Bronze Star; holds the rank of technical sergeant.
 
REVEL, WELDON DARMAN
Weldon Darman Revel, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Revel, was inducted into the Navy Oct. 26, 1944; sailed for Pacific area May 27, 1945; spent 13 months overseas; awarded six theater ribbons; ranked as seaman, first class.
 
RIDER, EMERY ODELL
Emery Odell Rider, son of H. F. Rider, entered Army Jan. 27, 1943; left for ETO Oct. 27, 1943; fought in Normandy and Battle of the Bulge; served overseas 22 months; awarded Bronze Star; served with Eighth Air Force, 446th Bomb Squadron; discharged Sept. 31, 1945, as sergeant.
 
RIDER, HENRY F.
Henry F. Rider entered the Army Oct. 9, 1944; trained at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Camp Hood; sent to Pacific March 28, 1945; spent 19 months overseas; was attached to 37th Division; held the rank of private, first class, when discharged.
 
ROBBINS, JAMES A., JR.
James A. Robbins, Jr., son of J. A. Robbins, was inducted into the Army and received training at Camp Hood and Fort Ord, California; fought in Pacific Theater of Operations; served overseas 15 months; held the rank of technician, fifth grade.
 
ROBERTS, EWEL R.
Ewel R. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Roberts, entered the Naval Air Corps on Nov. 11, 1944; trained at Corpus Christi, Hitchcock, and New Orleans, Louisiana; was awarded the American Theater Ribbon.
 
RODGERS, HARRY DALTON
Harry Dalton Rodgers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rodgers of Coleman, Texas; was inducted into the Army Nov. 30, 1940; received training at Fort Sam Houston; discharged Aug. 8, 1941; ranked as private at time of discharge.
 
RODGERS, R. V.
R. V. Rodgers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rodgers, entered Air Corps Nov. 5, 1942; trained at San Angelo, Gulfport, Miss., and in Florida; served as aerial gunnery instructor; was discharged Nov. 25, 1945; held rank of sergeant.
 
ROWE, WYNDELL A.
Wyndell A. Rowe, son of N. Pierre Rowe, entered the Army Sept. 17, 1941; sent to ETO April 1, 1943 for 30 months’ service; fought in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, France, Rhineland, Central Europe; awarded Bronze Star; served with 36th Division; was technical sergeant; discharged.
 
ROZZELL, CHARLES
Charles Rozzell, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Rozzell, entered Army Jan. 27, 1943; left for ETO on May 5, 1944; fought at Rome, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe; spent 20 months overseas; awarded French Croix de Guerre; discharged on Jan. 6, 1946.
 
RUSSELL, JACK W.
Jack W. Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Russell, entered the Army Air Corps Nov. 5, 1943; trained at Buckley Field, Cola., Fresno, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev., Lincoln, Neb., Sioux City, Iowa, Laredo Field, Sheppard Field and in Washington; was sergeant; discharged in May, 1946.
 
RUSSELL, ROBERT P.
Robert P. Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Russell, entered the Army Air Corps Oct. 15, 1942; sent to ETO Aug. 17, 1944 for 12 months’ service; made 17 missions over Germany; served with 490th Bombing Squadron of the Eighth Army Air Force; was first lieutenant; discharged Oct. 15, 1945.
