Benjamin Oscar Oliver, son of William R. and Elizabeth Oliver, was born in McLennan county June the 14th 1883; and died June the 4th, 1919. His death was caused by a fall from an oil derrick near the town of Tennyson, Coke COunty, Texas. At an early age he was converted and joined the Methodist Church, and about twelve years ago he became active in his church, serving as Steward for several years and was otherwise useful in the church. He was married to Miss Gertie Burkett, at Burkett, Texas, December the 22nd, 1910, and to them were born two children, Vera Pearl and Ila Ernestine. He loved his wife and babies sith unusual tenderness, and his devocation to them was very marked. He was a good citizen and was held in high esteem by his neighbors who cheerfully bear testimony of his worth and character. It was a sad day to his wife and babies and to his many admiring friends when the news was flashed over the wire "Oscar is dead." A good and true man has gone to his reward, a wife wees at home because she looks in bain for his return, and listens for the footfall that never approaches - the little girls miss a fond and indulgent father, and we all feel deeply our loss. We have consigned his body to earth and commend his spirit to God whom he worshipped and we expect to greet him some day on the sunlit hills of the city of the New Jerusalem.
