It is believed that the Burford School could have been named for and
was located on land of Alexander Jasper Burford who moved to the area that
later became known as Goldsboro, in 1876. He moved from the Content
area of Runnels County, which was just across the line. The Burford
family history says the children went to school at Opposum Trot in the
Midway area. This school could have been called Burford or could
have evolved from the Burford School. The only record that we have
found is in the County School Records, showing that B. W. Bigham taught
there in 1892.
