There were seven schools in the south part of the county that consolidated to form the Mozelle High School District.  It was the first rural high school erected in Coleman County and was known as the South Coleman County Rural High School.  The schools were Brown Ranch, Voss, Hill, Starkweather, Elliott, Gouldbusk and Hardin.  The first board of trustees were John Terry from the Brown Ranch district; Lee Byrom from Voss; J. J. Netherton from Hill; Hugh Wheat from Starkweather; Jep Dalton from Elliott; Barney Martin from Gouldbusk and Sam Baker from Hardin.  Mrs. Sammie Harris gave the land for the school and it was named for her oldest grandaughter, Mozelle Monsey.  The first classes were held the term of 1935 - 1936 in a temporary building.  Only the four high school grades were at Mozelle.  The lower grades were held in the original districts at that time.

The ground breaking for the second high school building was in the spring of 1936 and the first classes were held in the building in the fall of 1936.  Now all twelve grades are on the Mozelle campus.  In 1936 - 1937 school year high school students from Folk, Leaday, Shields, Red Bank and Loss Creek had consolidated with Mozelle.  W. T. Bowers was the first superintendent and O. C. Cook was the first principal.  Other teachers were C. B. Edwards, P. L. "Polly" Wise, Mrs. Eunice Johnston, Mrs. Earstie Johnston, Miss Clara Price and Mrs. W. W.
Walker.

The largest enrollment in the high school grades was about 240 students in the term of 1936 - 1937.  The faculty that year were W. T. Bowers, Superintendent and Math; O. C. Cook, Principal and History; P. L. Wise, Coach and Science; C. B. Edwards, Vocational Agriculture; Lockett Back, commercial courses; Eunice Johnston, English; Mrs. W. W. Walker, music and English; Clova Kennedy, Home Economics, and Clara Price, Home Economics.  The trustees stayed the same except Bob Thweatt replaced Barney Martin.  The bus drivers that year were Pat Downey, A. F. Terrell. E. D. Jones, N. W. Thacker, Bill Anderson, Roland Graham, J. K. McClain and Ira Loggins.

In 1949, Folk and Red Bank elementary grades consolidated with Mozelle, with Voss coming in the school term 1952 - 1953.
