THE FIRST COUNTY OFFICIALS
The first county officials of Comanche
County were elected in 1856. On May 17, 1856,
JESSE BOND was elected Chief Justice,
ANDREW KISSAM District Clerk,
FRANCIS M. COLER/COLLIER County Clerk,
JOHN TAYLOR, County Treasurer,
THOMAS J. HOMSLEY, Assessor and
Collector,
JESSE MERCER, Sheriff.
On September 15, 1856,
JESSE MERCER, JOHN McGUIRE, CHARLES C.
CAMPBELL and GEORGE R. HASTY
were elected County Commissioners;
THOMAS J. DUNLAP, Justice of Peace of
Precinct Number 3 and
KENNETH McKENZIE, Justice of Peace of
Precinct Number 2.
