Tisdel to Emily Thompson February 16, 1872. The N. B. stands for Napoleon Bonapart. The
next record was for A. R. McDonald to Henrietta Tisdale on November 29, 1872. Henrietta

died in August 1913. We found Matilda's gravesite in a small cemetery outside Dublin, TX
in Erath County. Her tombstone shows her birthdate as 1844 and death as September 25,
1893, there is an unmarked grave beside her. Could this possibly be that of Henry? A death
certificate from Cooke County might show where he is buried and if he took his own life.

#40414. Wm. L. Martin died in 1924, age 81. Mary E. Martin died in 1933, age 74. Both
buried in Calisburg cemetary. I would like death certificates for both,marriage lisc.,
etc. If possible, I would like to get his Confederate military records, or find out where
to get it. I have contacted the NARA for form-80. I need list of syblins also to research.
Wm. L. Martin also served as Deputy Sherriff for a short time in Cooke County. I need the

1867-69 in Johnson Co. Kansas They came to Grayson co. Texas in abt middle 1870's living

because they were in the 1900 COOKE CO. census living near Sivells Bend ... A.Talley died
8/16/1906 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery....Gainsville (Cooke Co.) TX. In 1910 Cooke
Co. Census precinct #5 Eliza (Louisa)Talley was living with son William Stice In 1912
Eliza (Louisa) Stice Talley was living in Mossville, (Cooke Co.) Texas (January 11,1912 to
be exact) per a letter from her to her daughter L.C. Brooks that lived in Hill Co. Texas.
We have a copy of the envelope with the postal stamp mark and a copy of the letter......
Her daughter L.C. (Stice) Brooks died 10/06/ 1915 and had attended her mother's funeral by
train previously..... We do not know when Eliza Skaggs Stice Talley died and where she is
buried....we do know she died between January 11, 1912 and October 06, 1915.....We
recently wrote the County Clerk in Cooke Co. and they have no record of her death or of A.
Talley... Fairview Cemetery does have when A. Talley died but not Eliza....We also visited
the Cemetery and found a very large monument on one side it had TALLEY and the other side
had STICE.... no foot markers for the Talley side and no names or dates on the monument
for TALLEY......But on the Stice side it had a foot marker for George born April 22, 1863
and died May 29, 1904 This was Eliza & John Stice's Son.........WHERE IS ELIZA If
anyone has any information on this Family please E-Mail me.....We are very anxious to know

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Cooke Co., TX, as are two of his and Lucinda's
daughters and their husbands (Nancy Lucinda Dawson and Polly Mae Dawson (who married Cox
boys). But where is Lucinda? Ephriam died January 29, 1926 in the home of his son-in-law,
James Mabry Cox. Lucinda is said to have died there too, on October 04, 1934. I need to
find out: 1) where Lucinda was buried, and 2) who were Lucinda PARSONS' parents, and 3)
where did she/they come from? Lucinda is said to have been born in Texas. As for her
parents, I believe they may be Eli L. PARSONS (Jan 3, 1831-Aug 18, 1885) and Elizabeth
"Eliza" PARSONS (Apr 22, 1833-May 10, 1908) or a brother of Eli's. Eli and
Eliza(beth) are both buried at New Hew Cemetery, just a few miles southwest of Mt. Zion
Cemetery in Cooke Co., Texas. The reason I think they could be Lucinda'a parents or other
relatives is because nearby, there is ANOTHER, younger Lucinda PARSONS (Dec 26, 1871 -
July 22, 1950), a possible cousin or niece. Also buried nearby are: Susan Lee PARSONS, Mar
13, 1868 - May 31, 1945, and Willie E. PARSONS, Mar 5, 1886-Mar 19, 1916 Does anyone know
who of these are my Lucinda DAWSON's relatives? Lucinda is my 4G-Grandmother; here's how I

RODGERS. David Rothborn is my g grandfather and was supposed to have been born in 1859 Mo.
I haven't been able to find him there in the household of a David. I do however find land
he homesteaded. It was 16 miles from the old town of Sherman that burned down. Another
thing is, one of David's witnesses was Wm. RODGERS. My land document is marked Fannin at
the top and Collin at the bottom. Don't know for sure where land is located. From all
indication in reading history of Fannin, I believe my David may be connected to ROGERS,
Thomas Jackson of Fannin Cnty. He came to Texas around the same time and is from MO.
However, I cannot prove or disprove at this time. Anyone with information, please contact
me. Thomas Jackson ROGERS lived around Sadler,Fannin Cnty, TX according to the book. David
had half brother who must have been younger but supposedly had no children. David Rothborn
RODGERS lived in Dallas by 1894 and after 1920 was in Irving,TX. David married Annie Maria

My grandfather, WILLIAM WESLEY raised his family here with his 2nd wife, RUBY LEE (WHITE).
They had six (6) children together: Walter Euel, Mary Marie, Nora Lee, Marvin, John
William & Donald Wesley. William moved here from the Dallas Co., area, possibly
stopping off in the Valley View area about 1916 where his brother Walter b. Feb. 26, 1899
died Sept. 16, 1916. William, it is believed was born in the Waco area Sept. 23, 1896. His
parents were JOHN WESLEY & EMMA(FRANCES EMMELINE THOMPSON) STACY/STACEY. John was born
in Missouri; Emma in Texas. John & Emma had the following children: Lee (daughter)
abt. 1892/93; William 9/23/1896; Walter 2/26/1899; Dora abt. 1901/02; Alice abt. 1904/05.
William Wesley and Ruby Lee (White) Stacy/Stacey are buried in the Fairview Cemetery in
Gainesville. My father and uncle both remember their grandmothers being buried there as
well. These grandmothers would be HULDA WHITE & EMMA STACY/STACEY. Please note: Emma's
name is as remembered by my uncle. He's pretty sure her name was as shown above.) Hulda
was Ruby Lee's mother. Her husband, Ruby's father, was JOHN WILLIAM WHITE. The White's are
originally from Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., Texas; this is where Ruby was born
9/14/1901. She has several brothers and sisters. The following are the ones we know of so

Seeking information on Joseph ROFF and his wife Elizabeth Duvall Castlebury Crousen ROFF.
They resided in two locations in Wilbarger Co. in about 1897, part in "White
Rose" and part in "Beaver Creek" near his wifes son from her second
marriage John CROUSEN. Joseph died in Dec 1897, leaving a wife and one married daughter
Kate (Married Charles D. LEWIS). I am unsure if he died in wilbarger co. or in Roff Ok,
where his nephews lived. Previously they had farmed in Throckmorton County.. and were
married in Cooke COunty in about 1876. He was a brother to Major Chales Roff of Cooke and

Looking for information on my Grandfather, Charles S. FORDs family. He was supposedly born
about 1876 around Gainsville in Cooke County and was orphaned about 1879. Very little is
known. He said that his father's name was William FORD and his mother's name was Elizabeth
POE. His mother was said to have been half Indian. He lived with relatives until he was
about 12 years old (we think in Hunt County) at which time he went off on his own.
Relatives names are not known. He is found in the 1900 Federal census of Fannin County
with my Grandmother Maggie (SMITH) FORD and baby son, Floyd FORD. My mother, Nora
Elizabeth (FORD) PHILLIPS, was born there in 1902. The family moved into Oklahoma about
1904 and grandfather died there about 1949.

Am looking for information on ggrandfather Samuel Rankin YEARWOOD m. to Sara Elinor CASH.
They moved to Cooke County sometime early 1860's until late 1870's from Jefferson County,
Ill. My grandmother, Rosa Sara YEARWOOD was born in Cooke County in 1875. The family
returned to Illinois at some time because they are . buried there and my grandmother met
my grandfather there. She told stories of living on an Indian Reservation there. Any

I am seeking any information on my g-grandfather William J. LYNN who came to Cooke Co. TX
from TN. in abt. 1878 his wife was Sarah Ann (Sally)HAMILTON. Their children were Nancy,
Thomas L., Edna, Milton M., William Robert, Elzie Berry, Fred Lee. According to stories by
family members in abt. 1884 or 85 William J. and another man had a shoot out and killed
each other. I have not been able to find anything about this incident. Can anyone help me?
Where was William buried? When did he die? Sally married a J.T. DALLEY Nov. 7,1887. Can

Cooke Co., Tx Researching George Washington STEWART. He was supposedly born in
Mississippi, Sep. 2, 1861. He married Nannie LYNCH on Dec 2, 1896 in Ellis Co., Tx.. He
and Nannie lived in Cooke Co., Tx., as far as I know, until her death on April 8, 1919.
I've been told that she died in Woodbine, Tx. and is buried in the Nelson Grove Cemetery.
He later moved to Sentinel, Ok, where he died April 7, 1936. He is buried in the Sentinel
Cemetery. I am trying to confirm George Washington STEWART's place of birth, parents, and
whether there were any brothers or sisters. Any other information pertaining to him or his
family would be greatly appreciated.

RIPLEY, LANE, BROWN, BURNS, CLARY...Ambrose RIPLEY and his wife, Rachel WOOD came to Titus
Co. area with their children in 1837. In April 1841 while Ambrose was away from home, his
wife and 7 of his children were massacred by a band of Indians. Two daughters escaped. One
of these daughters, Mary Ann "Polly" married 1. Isaac BURNS 2. James CLARY. I
cannot find any info to identify the remaining daughter. Can anyone help? Ambrose married

I am researching the LYNN family who came from TN. to Cooke Co. Texas in about 1878 the
lived near Gainesville until 1887 when they moved to Indian Territory. I need information
on Lucy LYNN she was born about 1860 what happened to her she was in the 1880 census but
can not find who she married or if she died. There is no trace of her in the 1900 census.
Also does anyone have any information about William J. LYNN who according to family
stories had a shoot out with another man and they killed each other. This would have
happened in about 1885. In 1887 Sarah Ann LYNN who was the wife of William LYNN married a
J.T. DALLEY. Who was he I have been unable to find anything about him. Sarah died at
Ardmore 8 Oct. 1918. Sarah (Sally) was using the name LYNN when she died.

Joseph Claude Davis and Julia Bell Toten raised many of their children in Quannah. Caswell
Davis and Allie Carver Davis owned and operated a Plumbing company there for many years.
Researching all Davis/Toten links. My brother and I have almost 1000 names in our index
now, but little beyond Joseph Claude. His father was C.H. Davis, who passed away from
pneumonia at age 34. His mother, Julia Elizabeth Psalter married a Mr. Talley sometime
afterward. It is unknown whether they lived in Hardeman County. Perhaps some knew the

Cooke County, TX - Rebecca WOODS (age 36) listed in the 1870 Census of Cooke County. At
that time she was listed with 2nd husband, William O. BURRUS (Age 49). I am seeking the
name of her first husband who reportedly died in the Civil War. She had children named
Hiram G. WOODS, Nancy J. WOODS, Kline C. WOODS, Elmyra C. WOODS living with her. She
married BURRUS after the death of her first husband. BURRUS had 10 children by his first
wife. Rebecca had 5 when she married BURRUS. They had 4 more children making a total of 19
children between them. I would be interested in any help with the WOODS AND BURRUS family.
Rebecca was born in Indiana. It was reported that she went north to settle her husband's
estate. Since Elmyra was born in MO 1 April 1864 it is assumed that "north" is

Desperately seeking J. C. LANKFORD/LANGFORD, the natural father of my g- grandfather,
William Eugene JOHNSON. In 1888, Eugene was adopted at age 4 by Mrs. Maggie Johnson in
Cooke County. Family tradition says Mr. Lankford gave up his son after his wife died and
he was unable to care for the child. Eugene may have been the 5th child of the Lankfords.
He was supposed to have been born in 1884 near Sunset, TX in Wise Co. (later determined to

My ggrandfather JOHN MILTON MOSS and wife, PARALEE FANCHER MOSS, moved from Hill Co., Tx.
to Cooke Co. abt 1867. John Milton was born in ?, Ky. Paralee was born in Cole Co., Il. It
appears that Paralee's father,Grey Bynum FANCHER also moved from Hill Co at the same time;
he, however, moved to Palo Pinto Co. The MOSS family remained in the Woodbine area until
death. We have found nothing regarding John Milton's family from Ky., but believe he may
have been related to other MOSSes in Cooke Co. I am a grand- daughter of his youngest son,
Theodore Alonzo. I believe there may be other of his descendants still in Cooke Co. Would

Jos. Edw. Delashaw 1872-1954 lived in Cooke, Grayson and Fannin counties, TX. His parents
were Geo. W. Delashaw of Lawrence co, AL who died in Dexter, Cooke, TX in 1916, and Martha
Eliz. Row 1854-1930 of Hunt and Denton counties. Her dad, Edw. Row ran an Indian trading
post on the Red River near Dexter. His wife Clarinda Ruth Davis of McKinney died, and Ed
moved to Pottawatamie co, OK. When Geo. Delashaw came to TX from AL his brother and sister
came with their spouses: James Thomas Delashaw and Mary Jane Slaton, and Sally Delashaw

I am looking for the parents of Louisa WILSON and of James T. BERRY. They were married in
Gainesville, Cooke County, on 1/24/1862. They are my ggg-gparents. I have a copy of their
marriage license. BERRY is buried in Ardmore at Rosewood (?) and was apparently later
married to a Rosie Rudd (have a copy of Confederate Pension application). But, I don't
know what happened to Louisa WILSON. Where did she come from? Where did she go? (She may
or may not be from Alabama. I believe that Berry is from Blount Co., AL.)

I am looking for information on Willis B. LEMONS who is listed on the 1920 Cooke county
census record as being 84 years old and born in Missouri. He probably came into Cooke
prior to 1860. He is listed as owning property under abstract number 595. I believe him to
be a brother or cousin to my gg grandfather, William Riley LEMONS who was in Cooke country
abt 1853. Any information on any of the LEMONS of Cooke county would be appreciated. They

John Walding ROBERTS was born in Leo, Texas, Cooke Co. in about 1894. My Grandmother,
Myrtle Sangster CROWSEY, was born in Whiteboro, Texas, Grayson Co. , March 11, 1894. Her

Harold LaFuze STEVENS d 26 Apr 1980. His place of residence was Gainesville. His wife was
Lessie SCRIBNER. I am trying to confirm that Lessie was his second wife and that the first
wife was Myrtle Francis DARLING. I have been unable to locate a marriage (prob 1933 or
1934) or divorce (bef Jul 1937). I had originally thought the events took place in Dallas,
but have struck out there. Does anyone know anything about this individual?

the Civil War. I am also reserching the A.Z. HALL family who moved to Cooke County in the

ALEXANDER married Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) TAYLOR in 1886 in Cooke County, Tx. They lived
in the Bloomfield and Mt. Springs Communities. Their son Oscar married Pearl MASSEY in
1916 in Cooke County, Tx. and they lived in the Mt. Springs Community for the rest of
their lives. Pearl was the daughter of Wesley Allen and Eliza Ann (LEMONS) Massey. Mollie
Taylor was the daughter of Thomas J. and Jane (Jennie) (BROOKS) TAYLOR and granddaughte of
Charles and Nancy BROOKS Emily Josephine HOLLY married John Christopher Jerome (Jiaroan)
BURNS in 1874 in Cooke County, Tx. Her sister, Lucinda Rilla HOLLY married John E. BURNS
in 1874 in Cooke County, Tx. The HOLLY Family spent just a short time in Cooke County.
Emily and J. C. J. lived in Burns City, but moved west by 1880. What happened to Lucinda
and John BURNS? I will answer any one interested in these families.

I am looking for any information on Cincinnatus and Melissa Ann (Casteel) Potter. They
immigrated to Cooke Co. from Mississippi in 1858 and settled near Gainesville. Cincinnatus
served as a militia captain during the 1860s and was involved somewhat in the Great
Hangings. He is my 3rd great-grandfather. I am also looking for any information on his
daughter, Pandora, who married Luther Kent Evans. One source I found says they were living
in Nocona, TX in 1881, but I cannot verify that. Any pertinent info on the Evans or Potter
families in Cooke Co.?

his wife Martha Mullins, b. 1863. They were living in Jack Co., TX in 1900 and in Cooke
Co. in 1910. Some of their children were Ettie, Relbie(Rellie), Mollie, William, Marian,
Dick, Albert, Ruby, Dan, Audrey, and Robert.The reason for my interest is that Martha
