QRYTEXT: Looking for information on George Washington (Wash) MILLER, b. 30 Aug 1843 at Stony Fork, Wilkes Co., NC. Also his siblings, Alphus (Alpheus), William H. (Buck) and Jesse MILLER and Rebecca MILLER PHILLIPS, wife of Peyton PHILLIPS. These siblings and their families migrated to Cooke County about 1870. Records show that Wash ran a general store and Buck ran a saloon in Burns City. Also looking for information on William Thomas (Tom)WILLIAMS, b. 1854- 1856 in MS. He married Wash's daughter, Emma MILLER on 06 July 1882 at Burns City, Cooke County. He brought a daughter, Ida, into this marriage. Ida grew up and married Jimmy Watkins and lived at Gainesville. Upon her death, between 1915 and 1920, her body was brought by train to Custer County, OK for burial. We have no further information on Ida, or Tom's history prior to his marriage to Emma. Robert the youngest dob 4/22/1922. The boys were raised near Sherman by their Grandmother MINNIE GUNTER?? A preacher, JOHN MILLER later married MINNIE and helped raise the boys. Viola died of smallpox in Shreveport in 1925. I have not found LUTHER, but Robert is still alive in California. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I will be glad to share info. QRYTEXT: Have just returned from Marysville Cemetery, Cooke Co, TX to locate graves of Wright and McGee ancestors; unfortunately the library was closed when we were there for recarpeting. There are 3 graves in a row which are ours and then two infant graves I wonder if someone can shed light on whether or not they go with this family. 1) James Wright 1858-1889 2) Margaret, wife of John S. Wright, born 10/20 1825, died 7/21 1898 3) Lg. double marker: McGee - S.N. 7/17 1857-10/29 1912 & Annie V.--have seen her name elsewhere as Lucy Virginia(Wright), 4/13 1860-7/25 1907 Then there is Fannie V., daughter of -- looks like J. H. & Mee Harris--, 2/2 1893 - 12/14 1894 And Almus, infant son of A. J. & R. J. Gazawav, 4/25 1898-5/3 1898 Both of these latter two carry same inscription of "Budded on Earth to Bloom in Heaven". Also info indicates one of the other Wrights, Ellen, married John Bracken. Across the cemetery are several Bracken graves including a John 1856-1909 along w/"Bracken" 4/2 1815 - 11/29 1884--his father??; Harriett Bracken 6/30 1822 - 5/17 1903--mother??; as well as an Ida Maud 9/15 1884- & Infant son Burl Bracken 1888. Found no Ellen; does anyone know about her or if these are her husband and his family? One more please; couldn't help notice another grave that may not be connected, however: The above S. N. McGee is Samuel Nelson and there was a grave a short distance away that was marked "Mrs. S., Wife of Samuel Nelson, Died June 17, 1895, aged 78 years" Does anyone know if there's a connection? In 1892, Gen Pearce wrote memoirs of his involvement in the Battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri on paper with the name of Hulen Real Estate and was employed there during the last years of his life. Would like to correspond with any researchers in the Cooke Co. area who are interested in that part of Tennessee. Names in the Cooke Co. area include: Tyler, Chapman, Geurin, Wright, Nordman, Watkins/Wadkins. Know that gggrandmother Nancy Harvil Geurin married John Tyler before 1860 in Cooke Co; would like to contact any descendants of her son Timothy Tyler. A brother to my ggrandfather lived in Cooke Co. between 1900 and 1912; Lewis Nordman married Mary Texanna Redwine in Cooke Co. 1886 and lived some in Anderson Co. (1900 census) and Cooke Co. after 1900. Are the marriages for Cooke Co. after 1875 in a book form (have searched the book for prior 1876 Cooke Co. marriages, microfilm difficult to read)--have family members who would have married in the 1880's in the Cooke Co. area--do not know exact years, only word-of-mouth that they married in the area, then moving to Chickasaw Nation. My grandfather's brother, Leslie, told us cousins at family reunions in Abilene, never to forget that we are of Scotch/Irish descent. My wild hunch is that Z. Alexander owned a ranch around Bowie, TX and I have been working that county for a while to no success. He had a registered brand. Alexander was supposedly shot and killed over a fenceline dispute. Sarah died shortly after and the children were placed in an orphanage. They were later taken in by Sarah's brother "T" SMITH. T. SMITH took over the ranch that Alexander had, used the kids to work the ranch and ran the ranch into the ground (according to my grandfather). Alexander supposedly married Sarah in Gainsville, TX. His father's name was supposed to be David (according to death cert 1944, his father was Dave, mother unknown). Also told he had a brother or half brother named Hince/Hence who lived in Dallas later on in his life. Grandchildren said David lived in Cooke Cnty and I believe this is true. He married Annie M. English who is in 1880 census with her parents (age 16) in 1880 census. Can't locate marriage but think married abt 1882. Any info would be appreciated, have been unable to move backward in research. Think he may be son of David listed 1870 census of Collin Cnty, TX but don't know for sure he ties in to this family.

They were found at their home in the Wolf Ridge Community. I made a copy of the newspaper article about their funeral on March 25, 1915. It says that they were killed by person or persons unknown. I would like to know if that case was ever solved, as my grandfather WM. M. HORNE was also murdered by persons unknown in Ferris, Texas in December 8, 1923. And that murder was never solved. I would like to get a copy of their marriage certificate and any info on their dates of birth, where they were from, etc. Any info would be appreciated. My grandfather WILLIAM MARTIN HORNE, married ANNIE BELLE RAY LOWE in Dec. 1902. I believe the RAY family came from Cooke County. ANNIE BELLE RAY'S father was ROBERT J. Rice, brother-in-law age 9 Eliza married J.R. Cox in May of 1882. She gave birth to Columbus Reed's son in Sept., 1882. His name was Thomas Columbus Reed. Eliza was the daughter of Madison and Elizabeth Rice who also lived in Gainsville, Texas. I would like to find out who Columbus Reed's parents were and what happened to his daughter Dollie. John was Lt. in the CSA and received a pension# 12459 Richard and wife Catherine, children, William L, John, Richard, Hester. Cristopher C and wife, Nancy. Children James, Martha E, Richard and Nancy Belle. Their sister,a widow, Ruhamay Jane BLACKBURN-ISOM with her children, Isabella and Mary E may have joined them abt 1875 or so. She may have only gone under the name of Jane.

QRYTEXT: I am looking for ancestor information for James Franklin Hill. He was my grandfather. Our family records show he was born at Gainesville, Texas, Feb. 17, 1854. He and his wife, Margaret Leana Frances Montgomery, were married in Palacios, Texas on Aug. 30, 1874 and had two children born at Gainesville. They were Sarah Emma Hill on June 7, 1877 and James Edward Hill on July 11, 1879. Family records show his father was John T. Hill and mother to be Nancy Emmaline White. That is all we know of his parents. We have a pretty good record of James Franklin Hill's children and grandchildren. He and his wife had six children born at Uz, Texas in Montague County between Nov 30, 1881 and Jan. 13, 1890 and four children in Armstrong County, Texas from 1896 to 1901. We know James Franklin Hill had a brother named Marion and I know of some of his children. If anyone has any information on the above we would sure appreciate it.
