PUBLIC SQUARE BUILT HERE IN 1919
Valley View’s public square that gracefully crowns the town of Valley View was built here in 1919. A group of civic minded citizens, headed by Clay Newton started the movement. Up until that time the plot of ground was private property and several business establishments were located upon it.
A document that was drawn up which reads as follows:
This September 15, 1919, this plot of ground is to become public property, and it shall remain such as long as it is well kept and is used for same, but when, if ever, disposed of as public property, it shall be returned to the giver or his estate.
