I AM THE WIDOW OF YOUNG A. BROCK DECEASED, WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 10TH DAY OF DECEMBER, A.D. 1908, IN THE COUNTY OF TARRANT IN THE STATE OF TEXAS;
I HAVE NOT REMARRIED SINCE THE DEATH OF MY SAID HUSBAND, AND I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR THAT I WAS NEVER DIVORCED FROM MY SAID HUSBAND, AND THAT I NEVER VOLUNTARILY ABANDONED HIM DURING HIS LIFE, BUT REMAINED HIS TRUE, FAITHFUL AND LAWFUL WIFE UP TO THE DATE OF HIS DEATH. I WAS MARRIED TO HIM ON THE 14 TH. DAY OF MARCH, A.D. 1877 IN THE PARISH OF OUASHATA IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.
MY HUSBAND, THE SAID YOUNG A. BROCK, ENLISTED AND SERVED IN THE MILITARY SERVICE OF THE CONFEDERATE STATE DURING THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES OF THE UNITED STATES, AND THAT HE DID NOT DESERT THE CONFEDERATE SERVICE. I HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF TEXAS SINCE PRIOR TO JANUARY 1, A.D. 1900, AND HAVE BEEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE A CITIZEN OF THE STATE OF TEXAS. I DO FURTHER STATE THAT I DO NOT RECEIVE FROM ANY SOURCE WHATEVER MONEY OR OTHER MEANS OF SUPPORT AMOUNTING IN VALUE TO THE SUM OF $300.00 PER ANNUM, NOR DO I OWN IN MY OWN RIGHT, NOR DOES ANYONE HOLD IN TRUST FOR MY BENEFIT OR USE, ESTATE OR PROPERTY, EITHER REAL, PERSONAL OR MIXED, EITHER IN FEE OR FOR LIFE, OF THE VALUE OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, EXCLUSIVE OF THE HOME OF THE VALUE OF NOT OVER $1, 000; NOR DO I RECEIVE ANY AID OR PENSION FROM ANY OTHER STATE, OR FROM THE UNITED STATES, OR FROM ANY OTHER SOURCE, AND I DO FURTHER STATE THAT THE ANSWERS GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS ARE TRUE:

I ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF YOUR LETTER OF JUNE 17 REQUESTING THE MILITARY SERVICE RECORD OF YOUNG ALLEN BROCK AS A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER. THE RECORDS OF THIS OFFICE SHOW THAT IN 1922 MRS. PHOEBE BROCK, WIDOW OF YOUNG ALLEN BROCK, FILED APPLICATION FOR CONFEDERATE PENSION IN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND THE SAME WAS GRANTED UNDER PENSION FILE NUMBER 38391 DALLAS COUNTY.
THE APPLICATION FOR PENSION OF MRS. BROCK STATES THAT SHE WAS MARRIED TO YOUNG A. BROCK ON MARCH 14, 1877 IN THE PARISH OF OUASHATA, LOUISIANA. HIS DEATH OCCURRED DECEMBER 10, 1908.
THE APPLICATION FOR CONFEDERATE PENSION OF MRS. BROCK WAS APPROVED ON A REPORT FURNISHED THIS OFFICE BY THE ADJUTANT GENERAL, WAR DEPARTMENT WASHINGTON, D.C. WHICH SHOWS YOUNG A. BROCK ENLISTED AS A PRIVATE ON JUNE 4, 1961 IN COMPANY D. 10 TH REGIMENT OF ALABAMA INFANTRY, CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY. HE ENLISTED AT ALEXANDRIA, ALABAMA. THE MUSTER ROLLS SHOWS THAT HE WAS ABSENT FROM HIS COMPANY, WOUNDED JULY 3, 1863, AT GETTYSBURG IN THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY, THE LAST ROLL ON FILE SHOWED HIM PRESENT AND HE WAS LATER PAROLED AT DE CAMP GENERAL HOSPITAL. NEW YORK HARBOR, DATE OF PAROLE NOT SHOWN.
