This church was organized Aug. 9, 1908; Bro. Ray, Moderator Pro Tem and
R. H. Acker, Clerk Pro Tem. Charter members received by letter were:
Sister Alice Byrd and Sis. Mollie King (Frost Church); Sister Files
(Briscoe Baptist Church); Bro. J. T. Fulgham (Stansell Baptist church);
Bro. F. A. Land and wife (New Hope Baptist church, Kittrel, Tex);
Sister Annie Hassel, Bro. G. A. Lassiter and wife (Elmsdale Missionary Baptist
Church); Bro. A. P. Warrington and wife ; Bro. P. P. Whitfield; Bro. J. R.
Whitfield; Bro. D. T. Whitfield; Sis. J. A. Whitfield; Sis. R. I. Whitfield;
Sis. L. A. Whitfield (all from Elmdale Baptist Church).
Bro. J. C. Whitfield being an active Deacon in the church to be known
as Pilgrim's Rest. Bro. J. F. Fulgham ordained to the ministry Aug.
16, 1908.
Minute excerpts:
Oct. 3, 1908. letters of Sister E. W. Denn and Nancy E. Ackers & son
R. H. Acker read and received. Bro C. Bissett elected Deason on
Probation.
April 1909. Bro. Crawford Hambrick and Sister Sue Whitfield received
as candidates for baptism and after that to full fellowship of the church.
Baptism to be 1st Sun in May.
May 1, 1909. Bro. C. W. Hambrick elected church clerk; Bro.
Locke to be ordained to full work of ministry, which was done on May 12,
A. D. Brooks preaching ordination sermon; J. T. Fincher the prayer and the
charge given by J. T. Fulgham.
Nov. 2, 1909. Charges were made against Bro. G. A. Lassiter
for telling falsehoods - laid over until next conference at which time [Jan.
1, 1910] Lassiter made acknowledgements which were accepted by the
