Minutes Oct. 19, 1890
By authority of the Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Palmer on the
19th day of October A. D. 1890 a Missionary Baptist church was constituted
at Rutherford School House Presbytery Eld. J. P. Welch, M. Vv. Henson and
Wm. Dennington Eld J. P. Welsh Mod., Wm. Dennington Clerk the body
was called to order by the Moderator and after reading a portion of the word
of God by Bro. Welch and prayer by Br. Henson 18 members of the Palmer Missionary
Baptist Church presented themselves and after hearing the reading of the
Articles of Faith by Br. Henson were duly organized into a church and adjourned
until night.
Oct. 19 at night after preaching by the writer the church went into conference
and elected officers as follows clerk J. R. Ford, Deacons W. J. Moore and
C. f. Nash by motion. Elds. JK. P. Welch and M. V. henson was elected Presbytery
for the ordination of Deacons after the ordination Bro. Henson offered prayer
and delivered the charge and adjourned.

May 3, 1891 - Minutes
Red Oak Baptist Church of Christ after preaching by our pastor J. P. Welch
the church was declared in conference for the transaction of business.....on
motion the church approved of what had been done in the organization of a
Sunday School and proceded to complete the organization. Officers were
as follows - Bro. Conine, superintendent; W. J. Moore, Sec.; J. R. Ford,
Treas.; Bro. T. J. Welch, teacher of advanced male class; Sister M. F. Pearce,
teacher of advanced female class; P. R. Pearce, teacher of intermediate male
class and sister Lucinda Moore, teacher of intermediate female class. On
motion Elder T. J. Welch, W. B. Rutherford and J. R. Ford was appointed as
a committee to draw up rules of Church decorum and adjourned.

This congregation was known as Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church of Christ
until January 1, 1898 at which time the name was changed to Rutherford instead
of Red Oak.

Ada Risinger, H. F. Pearce, I. N. Searcy
Deacons serving: W. J. Moore, C. F. Nash, J. T. Strawn, W. R. Rutherford,
J. J. Risinger

R. F. Butler, G. W. Good, R. M. Wilson, F. L. DuPont, C. D. Owen, J. J. Elliott,
W. Z. Corbin, B. O. Jarrell, J. S. Evans, W. H. Perry, W. M. Kalton, A. O.
Hinkles, L. A. Herring.
