Robert Williams Jun 9, 1998 02:53 I am trying to determine if the following MILLER family was living in either Ellis or McLennan Counties of Texas around 1870-1900: James MILLER, born about 1830-1840 somewhere in Georgia. He married Sally STEVENS, also born about the same time and from somewhere in Georgia. They had the following kids: Olie MILLER (boy or girl?) Maggie MILLER (Margaret?) Emma MILLER Deana MILLER Della MILLER Frances Mary "Fanny" MILLER Johnny MILLER Jimmie MILLER (James Jr.?) Daughter Frances above married Louis WILLIAMS 4 Sep 1894 in Moody, McLennan County, TX. They later had a son Lonnie born in Waco, Ellis County, TX in 1909. So I am wondering if the whole MILLER family was living in that area between 1870-1900, or did Frances just come out there alone from Georgia? This is all the information I have on these folks. If anybody can give me a hand with them, please let me know. Take care, Robert KUYKENDALL & WILLIAMS

Linda James Ali Jul 22, 1998 19:02 I have some unsolved questions about a member of my gg-grandparents family. Benjamin F. JAMES, b. Jan. 1873 in TX, d. 1910, was the son of I.L.B. JAMES and Mary Jane HIGGINS, who resided in Ellis Co. by 1900. In that year he was listed on census, single, living with his parents, occupation lawyer. I believe he may have been working in Waxahachie at the time. On the 1910 census, he may have been listed with his brother, James H. JAMES and wife, Nancy A. C. WADE, who lived in the Milford area. The first name is difficult to read, but looks like it could be Benjamin F. However, this man is shown as a farm laborer. Although listed as married 8 years, no wife was listed with him. BRAMBLETT (born in 1834 in GA) in 1852 in Forsyth County, Georgia. They had the following children: George H., John W., Nancy, Oliva, Robert, Melia, Sarah C., Mary, and Joseph (all born in Alabama except George H., which was born in Georgia). Around 1860 they moved to Alabama, staying there until Jacob's wife's (Mary M.) death in 1880. Sometime after her death, the family moved to Ellis County, Texas. Jacob's brother Samuel (along with his family) also moved to Ellis County, Texas, probably when Jacob did. Samuel's wife's first name was Callie. Their children were: William T., Eugene S., John T., Cora, Julie, Albert, Eola, Walter D., Annie, and Jacob A. The children were born in Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas. Nancy Carter Nov 8, 1998 18:25 I am just starting on my WILLIAMS family about whom I know very little. James Buchanan WILLIAMS married Sophronia Jane McDONALD sometime in 1870s. Family story is that he was an Indian Agent and she a full blood Native American. They were married on the reservation, possibly in TN, and moved to Waxahachie, Tex. between 1870 and 1892. One of their children, Nancy Jane, was born there 11-03-1892. When Nancy only 3-4 years old, her mother was doing some washing in a creek, located in a heavily wooded area, was mauled by a bear and died of infection a few days later. Nancy Jane remembers going to the funeral in a wagon and passing through the cemetery's iron overhead gate. This is very little information, but all I have, given to ome by my mother-in-law, almost 90 years old. Does anyone recognize these names or ever hear of the bear incident? Your help is appreciated.
