In Memory of T. S. Andrews

Headquarters Camp Winnie Davis, April 7, 1913
Top Commander and Comrades:

The subject of this sketch was born in Polk County, Arkansas March 31, 1841 and came to Texas with his parents in 1860. They settled near Rockett, Ellis County, where Comrade Andrews lived until about one year before he died at his home in Waxahachie Jan. 18, 1912.  He was buried by Waxahachie Lodge #90 A F & A M in the family burial ground near Rockett. Many Comrades, friends and relatives accompanied his remains to their last resting place on earth.

In 1862 he entered the Confederate Army, joining a Company in Colonel Morgan's Battalion of Cavalry.  This company was organized by Captain Frank Farrar, who died in Arkansas and was succeeded b Captain W. J. Oggins, who commanded it until the close of the War.  Morgan's Battalion became a part of Col. W. H. Parson's Brigade.

Your Committee from their personal knowledge of Comrade Andrews reputation in the community, in which he lived for more than half a century, feel they can say truthfully, that he was a good man, a good citizen, a Christian loyal in his faith and his God.  From personal long acquaintance your committee takes pleasure in testifying that our beloved Comrade was in all respects a worthy example of all the attributes which so much adorn the lives of all good men and women.

We doubt not that he like our great leader, Gen. Lee, thought, "Duty the sublimest word in the English language," and that was his guiding star of his long and useful life.  Surely he who follows the Star of Bethlehem cannot miss the goal for which he strived.

His Comrades, friends and relatives will miss his kind and loving words.  Nature has paid its last debt.  The will of God is accomplished may we not say:

None knew thee but to love thee
None named thee but to praise thee.

Respectfully submitted:

W. L. P. Leigh, J. B. Wilson, B. F. Marchbanks, Committee
