Elected  to Camp May 1893

Ent Conf Serv March 1, 1862, Pvt Co B, 35th Miss; was at Corinth, Iuka, Corinth in the Campaign against Genl Grant on the [?] River; in the bombardment at Warrington, Miss; in siege of Vicksburg, in front of Gen. Sherman's Army through Georgia, Alton Station, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Nashville; shattered bone in my leg at Corinth; taken prisoner at Corinth, Vicksburg and released at Vicksburg; taken prisoner at Franklin; carried to Camp Chase. Released 12 June 1865 there. Disch on Surrender June 12, 1865.

Was 15 years old when I entered Confederate Army.  When wounded at Corinth was carried off the field by 2 Federal Soldiers who were ordered by a Federal Major to kill me, that damed rebel. I claimed protection as a prisoner of war. This officer jumped off his horse and made an attempt to kill me then. The soldiers interferred and saved my life. I joined Captain Abcock's Co in Regiment commanded by Col. Wm. S. Berry of Columbus, Miss.
