Information abstracted from widow's pension application #46667
Charity Bradley stated she was widow of J [oseph] F [ouler] Bradley, who
died June 19, 1905, Ellis Co. Texas. They were married April 3, 1870
Wayne Co Tenn. She was 79 years old when she applied (June 1930) was
born Sept. 14, 1851, Wayne Co. Tenn; resident Ellis County 16 years, living
at Red Oak.
J. F. Bradley lived at Waynesburg, Wayne Co. Tenn. when he enlisted CSA
1st Tenn. Reg. Co. F, and served four years until close of war in both Infantry
and Cavalry. Witnesses to pension application were W. E. Byrum and
Mrs. John G. Mulkey
June 18, 1930, Adjutant General's Office of War Department: "The name
J. F. Bradley had not been found on muster rolls on file in this office of
Company F of any CSA organization from the State of Tennessee. Records
show one Joseph Bradley served Co. F. 7th (Duckworth's) Tenn. Cavalry; one
J. P. Bradley served in Co. F. 13th (Gore's) Tenn. Cavalry, and one J. W.
Bradley served Co. F. 154th Senior Regt Tenn Inf (1st Tenn Vol) CSA.
On June 30, 1930 letter to Judge Stout from State Comptroller's office
advised receipt of favorable report on military record of J. F. Bradley
"on whose record Mrs. Charity Bradley of Red Oak, Texas, is applying
for pension."
Mrs. Charity M. Bradley died July 2, 1932 at home of son J. L. Bradley
in Lancaster, Dallas Co. Texas. J. L. Bradley certified he was the
person to whom it was entrusted to pay accounts of the late Mrs. Charity
Bradley, a pensioner of the State of Texas, County of Ellis. S. N.
Parks, physician, stated that he attended Mrs. Bradley in her last illness
and was of the opinion that her ailments were Organic Heart Disease.
