Entered State service [illegible] Enl March 8, 1864 Pvt Co E. 30th
Ala [Inf?] present at Rock Face Mountain, Ga., May 5, 1864, Dalton on retreat.
Also 3 days fighting Resaca, Ga; lost left arm May 15, 1864 when shell exploded;
taken prisoner at Resaca, Field Hospital; released May 16, 1894 near Calhoun
Station Ga.; detailed April 1865 duty Enterprise. Miss. order Gen. Dick Taylor
His home inside Federal lines but relieved on account of ill health; not
engaged in any service after loss of arm. Enlisted age 18 and went at once
into active service. After war, left native state Alabama (Calhoun
Co) and moved to Lee Co Miss, where remained 8 years during which time married
Miss A. E. Dundridge. Later lived Drew Co. Ark, migrated to Texas and
settled in Ellis Co. 1875. Always enthusiastic member of Camp.
