Is there a mortuary fund for funeral expenses in such cases?..........Kindly advise Mr. A. S. Wilson, Henrietta, Texas, #A, what the status of the case is at this time."

(The following letter may be of interest since it gives the date Mortuary Warrants were begun)

In reply to your letter of yesterday, with reference to warrant for pensioner No. 1242 deceased, beg to state that no warrant can be issued for a pensioner, who dies prior to the end of the quarter.

A law has been passed, allowing a $30.00 warrant to be known as a Mortuary Warrant, to be paid relatives or heirs, ect., but this law does not go into effect until April 1st, and will only effect pensioners who die after that date.......................

Signed J. C. Commissioner
