Plant, Ark Nov. 1863. Appointed A. A. Adju. Gen. Feb. 1865. Present
at Mariana, Ark., Lake Providence, Sugar Hill, Yellow Bayou, several skirmishes
and raids in Ark. nd La. disch May 20, 1865.
Assembled in a Brigade under command Col. N. C. Parsons at Camp Sterling
in Robinson [Robertson] Co. Tex. After an appropriate speech by our gallant
commander, we were ordered to our homes with our horses and arms. Returned
to my home in Birdville, Tarrant County, engaged in farming. In 1867 moved
to Bryan, terminus of Central RR; and 1877 to Dallas Co. and 1879 to Waxahachie,
Ellis C. Was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1830. Moved to San Antonio,
Tex. in 1851; lived in Young, Leon, Tarrant, Dallas and Ellis Counties. Moved
to Waxahachie fall of 1879."
