Resolution of Respect
To Officers and Members of Camp Winnie Davis No. 108 UCV, April 4, 1910
We your committee appointed to to draft resolution on the death of Comrade
T. S. Freeman, who departed this life at his home in Ellis County Texas Feb.
21, 1910 aged nearly 78 years beg to make the following statement.
Comrade T. S. Freeman was born in Green County Ala. Aug. 15, 1832, enlisted
in 40th Alabama Regiment confederate Army in 1862 and continued in the
Confederate service to the close of the war and paroled April 1865. In
the year 1869 he removed from his native state to Ellis County Texas where
he continued to reside up to the time of his death.
During all his life he bore the reputation of a quiet, industrious and
worthy citizen, a faithful husband, father and friend and died without a
stain upon his character, highly respected by all who knew him.
Resolved. That in the death of Comrade Freeman this Camp has lost one
of its most faithful members and as a camp we deeply sympathize with his
true and devoted wife and children, his relatives and friends who so keenly
feel his loss.
Resolved. that a copy of this short sketch be furnished the family of
deceased and a copy spread upon the minutes of this Camp.

Occupation: Farmer.
Physical Condition - Badly afflicted with Rheumatism and old age.
Enlisted in Conf. Army, Co. 6, 40th Ala. 3 years.
Own no real property or other property. Have no income
In indigent circumstances and unable to labor.

Dr. J. W. Wimbish stated that T. S. Freeman suffered from accute rheumatism

Widow of T. S. Freeman who died Feb. 33, 1910 in Ellis County.We were
married on Dec. 12, 1867 in Sumpter Co., Ala. I am 59 years old, and
was born in Sumpter Co., Ala. Have lived in Texas for 40 years. My PO Address is Waxahachie, Texas R.F.D. No. 7. My husband full
name was Thomas Spencer Freeman. We were married Dec. 12, 1867 in Sumpter
Co., Ala. He died Feb. 22, 1910 His command originated in Alabama He served
about 4 years, enlisted at Sumpter Co. until close of war in 1865. I think
he served in Co. Cm 40th Ala. Infantry.
Witnesses were Mrs. L. E. Andrews & Mr. Ann Rogers.
MUSTER ROLL FROM WAR DEPARTMENT,
Adjutant General's Office.
The records show that T. S. Freeman, private, Company C, 40th Alabama
Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted March 27, 1862. On the roll for
January and February, 1864 (last on file), he is reported present. Prisoner
of war records show him captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi and paroled at
same place July 9, 1863. No later record has been found.
