Terrible Accident Near Ray Waxahachie Enterprise, Aug. 16, 1889   Ray is a community five or six miles southeast of Waxashachie.  Mrs. J. L. Patton, who had been suffering from chills and fever for some time, got out of bed to start a fire in the kitchen stove. Her sister, Miss Daniels, not knowing the fire had been started, came in to cook supper and poured oil into the stove from a nearly full five gallon can.  The can exploded filling the entire room with flames of burning oil - Miss Daniels being a victim of the flames.  Mrs Patton was taken to a neighbor's house, but her recovery is doubtful.   Copyright © 2008-2017, Ellis County TXGenWeb.
