Tribute
S. P. Langsford
Commander and Comrades:
Death has again entered our camp and removed from among us Comrade S.
P. Langsford one whom we all knew well and loved for his many qualities of
excellence. When his country needed his services in its defense he
buckled on his armor and entered into its defense on the day of [? 186?]
by enlisting in Com [?] Regiment of [?] Brigade. As a soldier he was
brave and also ready in the discharge of any duty. As a citizen he demanded
the highest respect of all, as a business man efficient and reliable quiet
and gentle as a woman, warm and tender hearted as a child. His whole
life was one....of love and affection. His heart and conscience was the furnace
in which he shaped his daily work. There was nothing little nor selfish....about
him, he labored to make the world better to scatter sunshine and ....in place
of gloom and despair and now he is dead we revere his memory.
