S. H. Strickland Memorial
The Texas Christian Advocate - October 8, 1891
In memory of S. H. Strickland, who was born in Franklin County, Alabama
Aug. 22, 1818; moved to Giles County, Tenn. in 1837; was married to Miss
Annie Tunget; professed religion the same year - 1837 and joined the M. E.
church.
He moved to Ellis County, Texas in May 1877 where he joined the church
at Glenwood; departed this life Sept. 21, 1891.
I knew Bro. Strickland for about thirty years; he was a man of faith and
lived an exemplary life. Just before leaving this world he said to
his wife and children that he had trusted in God for more than fifty years
and was still trusting him. He told them how he loved them, but that
he loved the Lord more; then kissed his wife good-bye and fell asleep in
perfect peace.
May the Lord bless Sister Strickland and her family and keep them in peace
through all their afflictions and bring them all home at last.
