Dallas Morning News, July 11, 1886, page 7
Ennis, July 10. L. G. Allen, prominent farmer living about two miles south
of here, died yesterday morning after several weeks' illness.
He moved to East Texas from Tennessee in 1850, and in 1865, just after
the War ended, settled in Ellis County. He has been identified with
agricultural and live stock interests and owned two or three excellent
farms. At the time of his death, he was a leading stockholder and director
of the new bank here - also owning real estate in this city.
For forry years he was a member of the Methodist Church South and died
as he had lived - strong in the faith of his fathers. He is survived
by his wife, five children, several brothers and other near
relations.
