News was received here from Italy late yesterday afternoon that Frank
Beachum of this city had suddenly expired there. It came as a shock
to his relatives and friends and almost prostrated his family with grief.
For some time Mr Beachum had been selling a non-explosive compound
for gasoline cans. He left home Monday morning in apparently good health
and expected to return last night. Yesterday afternoon he reached Italy
on his way home and asked for a drink at a cold drink stand. He then
said he was feeling sick and a few minutes later threw up his hands and fell
to the floor, dying without another word. A physician, immediately
summonded, reached his side just as he expired.
As soon as this city heard the news of his death, County Judge Hawkins,
a cousin of Mrs. Beachum, took charge and had the body prepared for
burial. The remains reached Waxhachie last night and were taken to
his home of North Rogers Street. Funeral services were held at the
residence this afternoon by Rev. J. O. Putnam, pastor of the Methodist
Church with burial in the City Cemetery. The services were attended by a
large crowd of relatives and friends.
Mr. Beachum had resided in Waxahachie several years and was well and favorably
known. He leaves a widow and several children to mourn his death.
