S. D. Davis, member of the Sam Davis Camp No. 1089 UCV, died at his home
near Milford, Tex. March 6, 1910. He was born in Talbot County, Ga. Dec.
8, 1833, and went through the war in Co. D., Cobb's Georgia Legion (calvary)
in J.E.B. Stuart's Division, A.N.V. He married Miss Laura Carricker in 1866,
joined the Baptist Church in 1872, and came to Texas in 1883. Survivors:
wife, four sons and three daughters. [Source: Confederate Veteran XVIII, No. 8, Aug. 1910, p. 392] The Sam Davis Camp No. 1089 UCV, was chartered in Milford in 1898. Those
contributing to the Camp were: H. B. Allen, J. J. Brown, Z. T. Bundy, C.
L. Carter, W. T. M. Dickson, W. B. Harmon, J. W. Jones, J. K. McFadden, W.
