Capt. P. L. Gammon
Waxahachie Enterprise July 15, 1897
Capt. Gammon died July 10th after only a few days' illness. One
of our oldest citizens, he was born and reared in East Tennessee. He
was in business at Danridge, Tenn. when the CW began and was commander of
a company in a Tennessee Regiment..
Shortly after the end of the war he married and moved to Red Oak, Ellis
County. There were four sons, Charlie, Lea, Bob and Will by this marriage.
After the death of this first wife he married a daughter of Porter
McFarlin, an early settler in the Ovilla area. Three children and their
mother are left to mourn his passing.
Captain P. L. Gammon
Captain Gammon, one of our oldest citizens, died July 10, 1897 [?] after
a few days illness. He was born and reared in East Tenn., where he married.
He commanded a Tenn. Regt. during the Civil War, and moved to Red Oak after
the War ended. There were four sons: Charlie, Lea, Bob and Will. After his
wife's death, he married Miss McFarlin, daughter of Porter McFarlin, early
settler in the Ovilla area, and three children were born to them.
